I’m convinced those same guys have at home one of those ‘stick-on wireless front door bells’? You know, the ones where the battery went flat sometime around Christmas 3 or 4 years back and still they wonder why the Connect parcel delivery didn’t arrive? 😈
😀
I went to a regular customer on Friday, a note on the outer door states, ‘door bell not working, please knock on inner door’.
This has been like this for at least ten years or more, the sign has been replaced umpteen times as can be seen from all the various lines of old sellotape on the window. :rolls:

And we are now live! 🙂
Few things to work out and, a few little issues in getting there but… it lives!! 😀
Now, for forum users I need to tie up your account with details on the module so you can do stuff.
Please, don’t break it.

Not sure its an improvement from here. 😥
Enter my own postcode now and ‘you know who’ is at the top of the list, followed by three others, from Stockport, Ashton and Manchester before you get to little old me. :rolls:
No apparent mention of WTA/DASA status that I can see either?
In fact, my little spanner doesn’t even appear on the map. ❓September 19, 2011 at 4:44 pm #358846Martin

Like Jim all that cover the postcode are listed. No WTA, no website links, and all firms do all appliances…even waste disposals and gas…. :hmm:

Ehm….
There’s some of the stuff that needs done by you guys now and there’s NO WTA members assigned yet as it’s just gone up, I’ve not had time to sift through the 300 odd accounts and sort it.
Also, load of dead ones just deleted that there was an email bounce to or that I know are no longer trading.
All this stuff takes time you know. 😉

So how do we edit/update/alter our listing? :clown:

Working on that Jim.
The problem was that, although it was all tested and worked fine on our test server, when we went live a load of URLs and other stuff broke.
For the account assigning it was pulling up the entire user database and that was fine, on the test server. Doesn’t work on the live one. So now Sudeep is rewriting the code to make it work and hopefully that will be fixed in the next 24 hours.
What we have fixed and tested is the mail side of things, I’m editing the WTA members I know and assigning them manually now as well as deleting dead accounts.
It’s the old story though, it’s all fine in theory and under test conditions but, as soon as you stick it out in the field the problems change and some materialise that you didn’t see coming.

I think that should be sorted, thanks for pointing it out Martin.
Sorry, been flapping today doing stuff. 😉
Not as bad as Sudeep our resident geek who, I have to acknowledge, I think has done an exemplary job on this the past few weeks. The results speak for themselves and, as we now can, the new system allows us to do so, so much more apart from making it prettier. We’re working on more.
For example, the moderators have had access to and have been testing the ability to login to the content management side (from the front page) where you can then alter a lot of your own details. You can play with the company details, the blurb about your business to try to attract more, you can alter brands covered and products as well. We need to do the postcodes and some other stuff, like TA membership as we need to vet those so all have a level playing field. The big thing, especially for solve traders, is the ability to mark yourself on holiday, which saves bounces. Although I have a bit of an idea there, but I need to see how hard it is to do, nothing is impossible, there’s just degrees of difficulty with this stuff.
For anyone that needs help with this web stuff, if you can get to the Coventry meeting this weekend I’ll be more than happy to help you with anything or explain stuff in general.
I hope to, at some point before I leave on Friday morning, to have an online submission up and live for the system for repairers. I was hampered today by “other stuff” I had to do, like earn a living.
But it’s all keeping me amused. 😉
Please though, keep the comments coming as it helps us improve the system and I don’t much care if they’re good or bad comments, they all help. For example, there’s brands missing like Amica strangely enough that I know about, but stuff like that, the little details are worth paying attention to and covering off if we can. If we can’t I’ll just tell you straight and why as usual.

As of this moment in time it’s not. Postcode search brings up folks in a 70mile radius and the ‘Send an enquiry’ just brings up the exclamation mark showing ‘errors on page’. Early days yet…… 🙂

Huh, what did you enter.
Remember, it doesn’t search by mileage at all, that’s irrelevant. What’s relevant is whether there is someone that covers the area.
If you tell me what you did we can try to replicate it.
