ParticipantHi all new here and can I say looks a great site, had a look round but could not find the answer to my question so had to ask…. got an indesit idl40 dishwasher and it has a problem…. it fills up with water then the first and third lights on the front start flashing and thats how it stays, if you turn it off at the mains and start it again it puts more water in then same thing happens…. is it dead….. 🙁
Many thanks

Lights 1 + 3 suggests the filters are blocked. you may be able to clear it by first cleaning everything you can inside the tub, then running the machine on the hottest wash possible with a dishwasher cleaner.
This is often caused by not rinsing the dishes etc before you put them in the machine. Remember, it is a dishwasher, not a waste disposal unit. 😉

If it won’t work after cleaning all the user accessible filters then it engineer time.

1+2 is a drain time out error, possible that there is some gunge or something in the drain pump. Pump blockages are common on these machines.

Not that difficult, access from underneath. Lie it on its back or left hand side and after you have removed the base follow the grey plastic drain hose to the drain pump.
Place a few towels on the floor first.

There is a strong possibility that you did in fact dislodge an obstruction in the pump, it only takes a very small particle to stop the pump from running, glad you sorted it and thanks for letting us know the outcome.

Hi pauloamado.
You appear to be posting from Portugal. The model you have given does not match any of our UK model numbers or technical information. Is it a washing machine or a dishwasher?

P.S.( Sorry for my bad english)July 25, 2008 at 6:58 pm #239442iadom

Don’t worry about the English Paulo, far better than my Portuguese. 😳
This thread is actually about dishwashers though.
The model numbers in the UK are completely different to that one, there is nothing even close to those numbers.
However, three flashes on the UK machines indicates an NTC or temperature control device has failed.
It can be caused by bad contacts on the main electronic board as well.
On some machines the NTC is a small round device mounted on the back of the drum near the bottom with two wires going to it. On other machines it is a small rod shaped device and is pushed into the heater mounting plate.
I have had several of the drum mounted type fail. It is not very expensive so would be well worth trying a new NTC.

PS. Can you have a word with Ronaldo and tell him to stop messing around with Real Madrid. 8)
