Yes you require a card reader and then the card for each machine. Only the problem is that we have been told you get one chance per card ??? not sure if this is right as I have not done one yet but we have been issued card readers. ❓

For writing memory you do not need hardware key when you have smart card reader… and beside of working with “ARCADIA” sheet PCB it’s the same
Like lerch told previously it’s also worse because if something happen in the writing process you will lose entire card (data will be erase in time of writing)…
But it is another tool which I have already seen it (something I have already asked for acquisitions here in this forum and even in my country). Its one hardware key connected thru bluetooth with smartphone (PDA) which is also connected via internet to Merloni’s server (I think AntonioM. intranet), from where you can download any file you need… has also WMDoctor software installed…

ParticipantWell if youd actually bothered to read what i wrote instead of jumping the gun as asual
youd realise i said that u still need your harwdware key, for fault diagnosis and codesi have my smart card reader, full instructions, and training behind me
im fully aware of the implications of the write once smart card
anything else youd like to comment on?#

ParticipantRe: Indesit Smart Card Reader
i was wondering if the the information on the eeproms is the same as is on the smartcards.
June 10, 2008 at 9:14 pm #254277helo_75
Participantwell, it will be.. for earlier models certainly
since indesit are phasing the pcb and eprom out, all that will be available by the end of the year are the board and the smartcardnow, hotpoint can still use their hardware key, and program the pcb without using a smart card.. though as usual, not available to anyone other than their own service engineers
so if someones got some decent software, they could, at a pinch take the source code of each card, and use it to program each pcb, after all, its only the fact that the board comes with a blank eprom installed, its just the independants who suffer
so yes, in answer to the initial question.. its worth buying a smartcard reader, i mean, how many customers are willing to spend on one just to repair it the once?
better for the independants if you ask me
has anyone spoke to emw about the new system? im sure with the right software, nothing changes for them

Participantinterestingly, if its programmed, and you could take the info off the board, you could fit as new board and reprogram it
what do you use?
