Can anyone explain to me when these smart cards have to be used. Obviously if a new board is fitted, are all the new boards the same but have different information on them or are there different boards, can the information from one board be removed and a new set of information be applied, do faults on the machine damage the information on the board? I have not come across this type of machine yet, if I do, how do I recognise it? Can the new boards be fitted to older models?
In all my years in this trade I have never had to change an eeprom nor have I ever had to change a pressure switch.Regards.

Another question.
If there are any Franchised agents left out there who are carrying out the work on behalf of Merloni, do you guys have to pay for this equipment, or is it supplied F.O.C.
In the same vein, I wonder if they (Merloni) supply this to Comet on an F.O.C. basis?
Just intrigue!

Participantnope, comet have to pay as well
basically, all boards are different, and even the older machines will have different boards, and everytime you change the board, you will require a smart card
so, youll need a reader
basically, you fit the board and insert the smart card, its a write once, and cant be used again
if its corrupt or doesnt work, youll need another
eproms and boards are being phased ount, and will be a thing of the past at the end of the year
hope this helps?

as for the franchise, you get nothing FOC, but no need for a card reader, as you are charged a monthly fee for having a laptop

also a thing to remember is the same machine will have different smart cards for it depending on variation as well, ie: hot an cold fill, cold, double cold, size of motor stack, old or new heater box so same rules still apply, before ordering get all relevant information

Don’t forget some of the boards will not have a eeprom in it so you will require, pcb, smart card and blank eeprom. Happy days. 🙁

One of the guys today had a board smart card and a blank eeprom socket, unless the previous guy ordered wrong parts- which is more than likely. I will be checking tomorrow.

Participantthey do… just program it as normal with the smart card

Modules for smart cards do not have an eprom socket. Stores systems are now linking old eprom boards to the replacement smart card board as an equivalent. So if you order the old board and eprom and the board is out of stock they will give you the new board with an eprom which will not fit. The other way if you order a new style board and smart card and the new board is not in stock then they will give you the equivalent which is an eprom board with an empty socket. Educate your storemen that if they give you the equivalent board they must also give you the equivalent smart card or eprom. 😕

Just to clarify things?
There will be equivalent smartcard boards to replace all existing modules using a seperate EEPROM.
Will there only be one module to fit ALL new washing machines?
so that you will only need to keep one module and just get the relevant smartcard to program the module for the model?

ParticipantRe: Indesit Smart Card Reader
Yes they will eventually be replacing all eeprom boards with smartcard boards. All new models will be smartcards and replacements for models over the last couple of years are already available.
No it looks like they will still have some variations in boards. If you follow the link on an earlier post there are alrady two listed on there.
