Thought it wise to mention that this is the Mk1 hardware key, suitable for all machines up to 2006. The Mk2 hardware key is P No: C00115587 not sure if it is for all models or just post 2006 range.

KeymasterYou loose the display on the later one Jim and it’s no use without the EMIT software/laptop which is required to read the codes now.
These are the run out of the older keys that are of use and, I’m informed, after these are gone, that’s it.

If it’s red, don’t press it! ๐

If it was red I would have pressed it a long time ago, I deliberately walk under ladders as well. ๐
I may know someone who knows the answer as well, There must be some reason for it, perhaps its a reset button?

KeymasterK,
Do you know or hear about new tool from Indesit/Ariston? that PDA phone with bluetooth hardware key?
Will be available? because will have connectivity with service center and can be used for many purposes…
I’ve heard that the our merloni service representatives have already received them, but isn’t delivered to each everyone yet because… they are studying (investigate and learn how to deal with) the tool now…March 9, 2008 at 12:02 am #216357kwatt
KeymasterIโve not heard of that, here in the UK Indesit use laptops as far as I know for now. Never know though, they may change that.

KeymasterFor new models they aren’t able to work with old keys and programms… I mean with Arcadia/Moon technology… they have different connection (pins have different positions / they are switch) and different voltage on hardware key connectors…

Arcadia machines will be programmed using a smart card – looks like a chip & pin card which also requires a card holder – these are in short supply so Merloni will program any Pcb sold to the trade meantime – eeprom is already on Pcb so no need to buy one seperately.

FranzFranz,
look closely to PCB or ask the guy who was told you so…
You have right when you say that you cannot anymore buy other programmed eeprom because you don’t have such things… you going to buy instead of one eeprom chip, one card (after purchasing smart card reader). But difference will be on the card isn’t re-usable; it will be erased on completion of writingโฆ in case that something happen and program wasnโt write OK them you will be need another card. Some people have already such experience in dealing with (not me, Iโve just heard and see).Baron 8)

KeymasterBy the way, if any have opportunity to buy one much more PDA phone kit from Merloni please take me on spot… even it’s expensive …arround 4-5 hundreds of euros…

KeymasterAnd now, like all wish to go wrong ๐ฟ … my old hardware key is broken :sadder: … Do anyone has one for spare??? (model should be the one with display (at least C00095669))
By the way Ken… see the info for C00113723 which is related with earlier spoken PDA…

So in Connect’s latest mail-out I see their flogging the idea of the HARDWARE KEY & SMARTCARD READER. But reading through the reams of info here on UKW on the subject it appears everyone is falling over themselves simply grasping hold of what info is available?:?
As an example, it appears the expensive HARDWARE KEY has several differing part numbers and currently (as far as I can establish at least) the latest is the MARK ONE?:?
And after you’ve shelled out for one and plugged it into the back of an errant machine it doesn’t always show up the right error codes and often simply displays some random code just to test your patience and resolve?:?
I see Jim has been plugging one in with mixed results since he bought one. Eering on the side of caution I thought I’d ask you guys, that have one, your estimation of their worth in the grand scheme of things?
I can’t figure what, for the life of me, is the point of a SMARTCARD READER but I’ll save that for another time. :rolls:
I was kind hoping Tony @ EMW could elaborate a little more on the subject also…please Tony! ๐
