Hi hope someone can help or point out where I am going wrong! We have had an ISE10 for 6 months now and aside from the noisy water filling cut off (which precludes nigh time use) ๐Ÿ™ it has taken everything we can throw at it.

Whilst trying out different washes I noticed that the Cotton Eco washes at 40deg and 50deg are nearly 40 minutes longer than the coloured cottons wash !?! as follows:

    40deg Coloured Cottons โ€“ 82 minutes
    40deg Cotton Eco โ€“ 120 minutes ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

When I checked the manual the Cotton Eco washes at 40deg should be 75 minutes and the coloured cottons 85 minutes !?!, both washes are selected at 1600 spin

Do I have a confused control board, or user error ๐Ÿ˜ก

    Neither.

I’ve just answered a letter about this today.

Basically, as I don’t have a copy at home to just paste in…

The machine will calculate the time “on-the-fly” like virtually all the machines that display a time in this way. The time being estimated is highly variable depending on the conditions, hence the caveat in the instruction book on the programs page that the times are approximate and in section 7 of the book that they can and likely will, vary.

The variables are… wash load, incoming water pressure, incoming water temperature, water load required for the wash load and level of load sorting required to spin.

As you can see, there’s a few things that the machine cannot know when it begins the program, it has to calculate it as it goes based on the information that it reads, then it updates the ETA as appropriate.

One of the funky things about the 10 is that it learns. It learns about the mean water temp, pressure and general loads used and will reassess the initial time and display an estimate based on past washes. What this in effect means is that all too often what you see displayed is not what will actually happen as it will alter as all these factors are recalculated.

It also means that the wash time indicated can drop quite dramatically, even during a cycle, as well as increase. It really does depend on the variables involved.

The times are a guide, that are indicative only as it is obviously not possible for anyone to guess at the variables for each installation. They can and do vary, how much is entirely dependent on the use and the various factors that come into play.

This applies to all programs but, as the eco program is optimised to save energy and runs on an extended wash time anyway, it is a more acute difference that you will see.

The eco wash only reduces the energy used by about 0.14Kw per cycle, or about 1.2 pence (at best) based on the current rate for a Kwh but the compromise is that, in order to save that energy, the wash cycle has to be extended to get the same wash results.

    hi ken,

Hey this is really cooool, dont know why i havent read this info before. Lots of thought mustve gone into this one ๐Ÿ’ก Dont know how you guys get the time to post on here! Am i right to presume my 1607 will have these features?

    Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™‚

Yup, the 1607 also calculates and adjusts on the fly as well as self-learns to an extent, the extent being, as much as it can given the number of variables.

The details to alter the default number of rinses is now in the instruction manual with details on how to change it as well but there’s the seven rinse option anyway now which is superb for people with skin issues.

The eco side has been incorporated into every program now by default so you don’t need to select it, the machine just calculates that on the fly.

Thanks for the quick reply as usual ken. I am even more :bounce: now about my new 1607 arriving! It will be like a  for the first few washes ๐Ÿ˜€

At the moment my old servis isnt rinsing at all with no ill effect on our skin, so i probably wont need the seven rinses ๐Ÿ˜† It is a fantasic option for people with sensitive skin though ๐Ÿ’ก

My 1607 is being delivered next thursday, and thanks for your help in securing me one of the first batch ๐Ÿ™‚

    best wishes

Above you posted this about the old ISE10 eco wash

“The eco wash only reduces the energy used by about 0.14Kw per cycle, or about 1.2 pence (at best) based on the current rate for a Kwh but the compromise is that, in order to save that energy, the wash cycle has to be extended to get the same wash results.”

and then said this about the new one:

“The eco side has been incorporated into every program now by default so you don’t need to select it, the machine just calculates that on the fly. “

A little confused, do we have to have a longer wash than we might otherwise have had? Until the manual is available we can’t check, sorry to keep firing questions at you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    hi,

You should read the info about the 1607 first me thinks! As is states that the 1607 has a 40 wash that is shorter than almost any other A rated machine! Sounds good to me ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: ISE 10 Eco wash too long

No, it’s fine, I know that people don’t know a lot about this stuff and a lot of it needs explaining.

The eco functionality on the previous generation of machines was to try to get the water and energy consumption down, the former dictates the latter but, in order to do that you have to agitate longer to accomplish the same wash results. That’s why so many machines take two hours or more for a normal wash these days as all that’s done (so far as I can see) is the water level is reduced and the wash extended to compensate the results giving a lower energy rating.

What the ISE10 does is use the drum design as well as some software trickery to overcome that problem to a degree, as much as is currently possible at any rate. So you end up without a huge impact on wash time, the anticipated normal cotton 40ร‹ลกC was in a 1607 is about 1:40 from memory and on the 1606 it was 1:35, again from memory. It takes a few minutes longer but draws less energy whilst improving on the wash result due to the new drum design.

It’s like most stuff, the technologies move and develop.

I think I’ve answered the question but I’m sure you’ll let me know if I haven’t.

    hi ken,

I knew you guys would have all that technical stuff sussed!

All i have to say is that the ise10 is a cut above the rest as far as i am concerned, ise have obviously put tremendous time, effort and expense into your products for us so they are easy to use ๐Ÿ˜‰ That is why it is the only machine that has tempted me to part with my money, and believe me that is rare!!

Apologies to Kwatt, the manual for the new washer is indeed online for any one who is interested in the various options it has:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/downloads … W{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20EN.pdf

Seems pretty cool, the options compared to our Tricity Bendix are mind bending. ๐Ÿ˜€ . Having options of temps and spin speeds within the different programs would take little while to get my head around (but is still a good thing, don’t get me wrong).

Re: ISE 10 Eco wash too long

TBH I’ve not messed with the new one too much yet but there are a lot more options on the 1607 over the 1606, mostly good as I finally got the “stuff” I wanted. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m not saying it’s the absolute ultimate spec, but it’s as close as can be gotten at a “reasonable” price.

The 7 rinse option was a biggie for me, for people with any sort of skin problem this is really good and important. For me it’s good as it’s better cleaning.

The super wash option takes a lot longer than a normal program but gives superb wash results negating the need for stain removal stuff in most cases. Again, good IMO.

The thing about the 1607 though is the drum, the whole notion of using the drum to get around the usual large load issues and to improve the wash results at the same time is just sheer genius. The reason it’s so clever (IMO) is that people don’t need to think about it, no buttons to press, no crazy stuff to do to get it to work, it just works without any intervention.

And that’s the point of a lot on the 1606 and 1607, you don’t have to work it out. All you need to do is put stuff in it, tell the machine what it is, select any extras you want and press start. Done.
