    Re: ISE and Wessex FM

Bournemouth is about 12 miles east of me – but I cover over to Highcliffe which is about 20 miles away from base in Wimborne. I spend more time in Poole and Bournemouth than out in the Dorset villages and Blandford.
    And I don’t do Puddletown……..yet……. :rotl:

Aha Wimborne I used to know it quite well, is the high end audio retailer still there?

We lived in Ferndown at trickets Cross end, not the posh bit down by the links 😉 over the years worked in Ringwood, Christchurch, Parkstone, Southbourne and Winton for the same retailer :rolls:

Would that be Holmans in Ferndown and Wimborne?
I lived in Trickets Cross for a few months and surprisingly always had wheels on the van when I came out in the morning 😛
And Steve…got my spies out in force 😉

Holmans, yep that`s the one Rob. Obviously trickets X went downhill after we moved out in 83 😆

I was there for about 3 months early 1993 but then took a step up in the world (and moved to Afganistan. not true) and moved to Piddletrenthide opposite the Poachers. I love the Piddle Valley.

Sorry to butt in chaps 😉 but was wondering what the score is on getting machines delivered direct to customers. I dont have any premises, just work from my house, & of course live in the middle of nowhere!
I really would like to support the ISE cause & help drag the market back in the direction we all would like to see it heading as engineers. Trouble is, i’m not sure how many customers i could convert given this is a fairly modest wage area.
Also, i kinda have a lingering reluctance to get ‘tied’ to machines, knowing human nature, some people would think they own your soul if they gave you a few hundred quid :rolls:
    Any thoughts ? 🙂

    Re: ISE and Wessex FM

    Hi Madmac,

We can do it although it’s a thing I’ve only just gotten to setting up in the past week.

    That’s the good news… now the bad…

It’s damned expensive to do it and, even for us doing it online, it bites into our margin due to the costs. Having said that, it’s not prohibitive I just decided to get that bit in before you all slag me off about the costs. 😉

Basically we can do the direct delivery for what it costs us in addition to standard shipping charges but there’s a few rules on the installation option as the company that does that bit are total sticklers for the rules. However, as follows…

      Delivery only – +£40
Delivery and wet installation – +£60

That’s for home delivery direct to a customer.

The reason it costs more is that to access a lot of residential properties they have to use smaller vans. Smaller vans can carry less and therefore it costs more. Simple really, if somewhat annoying. And, you really don’t want to know what Hi Way say at times about delivery to residential addresses.

Anyway, if you want the delivery and install then you have to watch the following points, although you can get a lot more detail from David in the office as he lives and breathes this stuff…

The existing machine MUST be disconnected or removed
Services MUST be within reach of the standard pipes, cable etc.

Basically, unless it’s a Noddy install they’ll abort it and the charges get laid for an abortive whether it’s left or not. Pity we can’t apply that to service calls as well… oh, that’s right, we’re all stoopid and don’t do that! :rolls:

You get the idea though even although I’ve still to hammer out all the details of how it all works in practice.

From what I’m told by David and Nicola though, administratively, it’s, as they put it, a piece of to do it, extremely easy.

This is something that I’ve been wanting to do for ages as I know that a lot of you will probably work from home, don’t have storage, don’t want a washer in the hall etc. and if you went down that road it’d mean divorce or being maimed by your better half. Totally get that, so this had to be done at some stage to allow you to offer that part of the service.

I hope that helps but if you’ve any questions… ask someone else. 😉 😆

No, seriously, if you need any help with it just ask.

    Ken,
thats’s why I haven’t got an ‘er indoors(thats my story and I’m sticking to it) and for the saving can keep one in the front room or on the van.

Jim, do you charge the RRP or a bit less because I think I would charge £371 and still make £60?

I don’t charge anything. I work in collaboration with a long established local independent retailer. I go to the machine, if its BER I give them the spiel and if possible a leaflet. They go to the shop or contact them by phone. I do the installation and all subsequent service calls.

It works very well (most of the time) :rolls: 😉

I do sales and service. MrsP is an absolute demon at selling the things; we have a lock-up garage over the road to hold some stock, there’s one in the van at all times and it really is a very easy sell.

So many people just want something decent and some personal service to go with it.

    Re: ISE and Wessex FM

We used to carry stock of ISE 10 washer and condenser drier, ISE 2 x 2 or 3; ISE5 x2 and dishwasher. Now of course, I will have a little more space as the 2 and 5 are the same thing.
As the soundproof music room is progressing space is of a premium until the end wall goes up. (this weekend!!) I’ll then have designated space for 5 machines.
My delivery of ISE 2’s next week is eagerly awaited as I think they are already spoken for. 😉
Rob, are you VAT registered? If not, it would be worthwhile speaking to Ken or Dave Quinn about ISE for agents who are not VAT registered.

    Hi Steve,
No, not VAT registered so will have a word, I’m interested in whether most sell at the recommended price or discount a little. I know the basic Amicas I have sold have been good and at a price of £270 retail are a bit of a bargain but in short supply right now and then they are lost to me for the 2 yr g’tee period.

Thanks for the info Ken, complete installation would likely be needed if i’m right about the type of customer who would go for ISE, professional types & retired with cash types i’m guessing! & theyre usually clueless with DIY.

Maybe thats a generalization & i would be interested in other peoples experiences, i do have a decent garage to the side of the house but it can get a little damp but it would hold several machines no problem.
Hmm, maybe thats my best bet if i could get the dampness sorted & beef up the security it might just work 😯

Would rather the £60 was in my pocket TBH 😉

    Well, quite. 🙂

Thing is though, a lot of the guys will charge a nominal delivery/installation fee at any rate and, if people ask us it’s whatever the price is plus £50 delivery and installation so there is a bit of scope there.

So say you tell your customer it’s a £30 delivery as an example, it costs you £40 plus VAT, but you’re only out £17 or something and saved that hassle.

My thinking ran with that we’d get asked to do a direct delivery only then whoever would pop round and plumb it in, check and commission the machine. And, to be honest, you guys would almost invariably make a better job of that than the delivery guys would. But it saves you the hassle of getting the machine to and into the house, which I know can be an issue although they do charge a bit more to remove the old one if that’s required as well.

    Ken,
Following on from Steve above is there any difference as I’m not vat registered? Have a possible tomorrow afternoon so will take a flyer and see how it goes.
No one has said whether they charge full rrp or not so any pointers would be welcome.
    Rob
