ParticipantI have a customer pointing out they can’t email a query to ISE appliances. I’ve double checked and the email address shown on the contact page is defunked – enquiries@iseappliances.co.uk
It’s the old hosting address
enquiries@iseappliances.co.uk
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO::
host jade.laser.com [195.173.62.80]: 550 5.1.1 :

What’s the new one please?January 7, 2007 at 4:59 pm #199854gegsy

Just to re-cap on this, Ive just received a reply email from my original TEST email I sent to enquiries@iseappliances.co.uk so looks like it may have been a glitch or firewall settings with the user/s :con:

It’s strange this, I tried again but the email bounces back within 30 seconds saying it’s a permanent error! I think the critical error is “Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table”. With me and the other chap not being able to email ISE it might be worth investigating.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its

Got to the bottom of it Andy, it looks as if there was a fault on the secondary MX record for ISE, now sorted.

I’ve just had another potential customer saying the following –
I too have tried to contact enquiries@iseappliances.co.uk in the last few days and have had my email returned. Are you sure the problem has been sorted out?
I’d like to know where my nearest ISE suppliers are. Are their any in Croydon or South West London? Looking at the list on the ISE website, Beckenham looks nearest.
I sent a test email myself which hasn’t bounced back but hers have. I’ve requested the headers or the email which I’ll post here if she complies. Meanwhile, can you tell me her nearest ISE dealer so I can answer her query?Cheers

Hmmm, that’s a bit odd actually Andy and I’ll have to dig a little deeper to see what’s going on, but it looks as if someone has left an account set not to leave a copy on the server as I’ve not recieved the message. 😕
Can you possibly ask that the customer resends, preferably CC’ing me in on it and I will respond please?
There are quite a few dealers in that area, DACS are very good and usually have stock as well. 😉
If you need anymore info on who covers then it’s best to ask David as he knows who has stock as well as where people are on dquinn@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

The customer in question should have emailed again the other day and fCC’d it to K.Watt.
She sent me copies of the bounced email reports and they are the same as the last time – that is, they seem to be pointing to the old server

KeymasterWe have discovered that, if it’s a Hotmail (etc.) user that there may be instances where there is a bounce as the email address sent from (or server) differs then it will be bounced by the spam filters. 😕
Undoing this rule would lead to loads of spam getting through. 🙁
But I haven’t recieved a thing.

According to the headers she’s using incredimail, which can add stupid pictures and sounds to an email but it looks like a pop3 email client not a web based one.
Also, it looks like a different reason than that which the first customer experienced. His email was bounced because – “Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table” whereas this one states –
“Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection- Please try again later” (but she later received a permanent error saying, “retry timeout exceeded”)These could be isolated cases, but potentially there could be more. We only know about these two because they were able to post in my forum about it. Anyone just finding the ISE site whouldn’t have anyone else to report it to if they didn’t want to telephone.
I’ll forward the headers I have to you K so it can be looked into further or forwarded onto someone at the hosting company.

It’s your call, but can a business afford to lose any potential customers? Just putting our email addresses up leads to tons of spam, we just have to deal with it (I highly recommend Postini BTW who filter out about 98{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of all my spam and I get about 300 spam emails a day)

From Li…
Li wrote:> Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection- Please try again later
The first is a “soft bounce” requesting the sending server to try again later. It is part of the “greylisting” anti-spamming measure. A delay of currently 1 minute is introduced to foil some spamming runs as they don’t retry whereas normal e-mail servers should.
> This is the a copy of the final message I received saying that my
> email to ‘iseappliances’ could not be delivered. The e-mail was from 22 January and the relevant e-mail server logs have been archived away (but retrievable if required). Just had a check on the current log and the following have happened:
Jan 30 12:13:35 janedavies@blueyonder.co.uk e-mail soft bounced Jan 30 12:15:26 janedavies@blueyonder.co.uk e-mail retry accepted Jan 30 12:15:27 E-mail delivered to ISE mailbox Jan 30 12:16:10 Another e-mail from the same accepted (no greylisting) Jan 30 12:16:11 E-mail delivered to ISE mailbox Jan 30 12:18:16 iseapp user logged in via POP3
Judging by the above log, I would say that the 22 January e-mail would follow a similar course. ie. I don’t think it would suffer a hard bounce.
So basically, it would appear that some email servers are not acting correctly, i.e. Blueyonder’s in this case. 😉
TBH honest Andy that’s a fairly common problem and this policy on mail servers has become fairly commonplace, I first had an issue with it over a year ago.

K.I’m not sure I follow this K. Is Li saying the emails were delivered but she was told they weren’t? If they were deliverd were they replied to?
BTW, I usually disable people’s email addresses to prevent it being harvested. Is this unecessary here because it’s a members only forum?

KeymasterRe: ISE Email address bounces mail
What it means is that Blueyonder’s email servers are not behaving with the correct protocols basically. What the sender received was a soft-bounce notification due to that but, when the Blueyonder server re-tried the mail it got through fine, but it took its time in doing so.
I usually disable the addresses as well but this forum can’t be harvested as it’s closed, I saw no need to do so and just pasted the log in.
