Hi, I have just joined after finding the site. I have one of these ‘super’ dishwashers. Engineer has been out fairly regularly to replace the top trays and adjust the door. The latest trick is to spew water out the bottom of the door. It did this once before and I got to work again but this time cannot get rid of the four flashing red lights and regular beeping. I have had it on both sides and got more water out of it but no luck. Any other suggestions?
Thanks ❓

hi,
If you have had it laid on both sides I’d think you may have actually compounded the problem with water running where it shouldn’t.
Be patient, wait a day and try it again, if it works, fine (water evaporated) if not it might be engineer time.

I am having a running battle with Curry’s at the moment. The machine we bought is now ‘out of warranty’ but has had a persitent problem with breaking runners on the top tray. Now the computer isn’t working. Sound familiar?
Currys have been quite obstructive so far and seem to think we have to pay for an engineer to come out at our own cost before they will do anything. Have contacted Trading Standards about this. Anyone else done the same, have experience or wish to impart some advice?
I feel very strongly that this machine was not fit for purpose or of merchantable quality when sold. They seem to be disagreeing despite having told us on the phone that the machine has a design fault. These faults have been reported on sites all over the net.

Since I last contacted the site we have had our machine exchanged by Currys. I have got to say they were excellent but it was just within the warranty period. I took the information from this site together with the dates on which the engineer was called and within 24 hours received a call from Currys to say that it would be exchanged. We wrote to Kenwood but they referred us back to Currys.
I suggest you keep at them as they are aware of the problems with this model and you must be able to prove that you have had ongoing problems with it since you got it.

Lucky you Mike. lol
Currys have today point blank refused to talk to us anymore because the machine is out of warranty, even though the faults were occuring within warranty. Trading Standards are now involved…watch this space!

Sorry to hear you are getting nowhere. I don’t know how far out of warranty your machine is but I would have thought they should do something about it. Have you tried writing to Currys Head Office – they are part of Dixons Group plc and put your case further up the ladder and write to the directors. Sorry! You may have done this already but, if not, it is worth a go. We are probably lucky that our local branch has been very good.

Trading Standards are now taking up the case. our problem has been that we bought it on the net so we have had no store to contact. As such customer service has been some faceless guy who has written back stock answers to questions. I have asked him to refer it to a senior manager but when he said he had this could have meant that he leaned over to the guy at the next desk!
I will be taking this as a complaint up to the senior management though.
I am now trying to get anybody who has had these same problems:
Leaking water
Broken runners
Faulty computerto email me for evidence in court. This will be completely anonymous if people want but I need as many people who can say these things have happened so I can prove its an inherent problem with the model.
Cheers

Yes this machine has had a chequered history.
FYI CDA have stopped selling the Haier model and have reverted back to a Whirlpool model (first deliveries into them last Friday).
Westinghouse also stopped using this model about 6 months ago.

I bought a Kenwood KDW12SS in Early 2005 and within the 12 month warrenty period the top drawer runners snapped twice and the ‘computer’ malfunctioned, either not allowing a program to be selected or just flashing lights! thankfully I haven’t had any water leaks (touch wood!)
When the engineer came out to look at the ‘computer’ fault he said it needed to be re-set and began to perform some kind of sequential button pressing which made it work again…….Please, please, PLEASE if there is anyone out there who know what this process is please (again!) get in contact so I can sort this duff machine out!July 23, 2006 at 8:01 am #136600thewisebunny

Just to let everyone know that the saga continues, We also have a Kenwood KDW12SS. The basket wheels bust for the second time (The DW is 18 months old, so I reckon its not long for this world). We’ll be placing an order for some more brackets with UKWG this week.
We also ocassionally suffer from the flashing light fault highlighted by other people in this thread. I found that we only get the fault if you hit the programme button too quickly after switching the machine on.
BTW – has anyone else had a really sticky power button on this machine?

I’ve had a mare with this machine as well – went through 6 sets of runners for the upper basket BUT there’s a solution now…
The last time I called for replacement runners (now out of warranty so I had to pay) – I was told they don’t do them anymore but that a complete replacement tray was available now which resolves the prob for good. Cost me about 30 quid, but I got a redesigned upper basket that has lasted 6 months now and has given me no probs.
I ordered it from Connect Distribution (the guys who supply the spares for Currys) tel 0870 4422510 Part number is CRY0120801644
Hope that helps…

I have suffered with the wheels on the top tray like everyone else, and now I have the four flashing lights problem. Does anybody know the fix? Seen earlier post by mikem69 on 21st Feb 2006 but couldn’t see a reply?
Any help appreciated, ta.March 8, 2009 at 9:23 pm #136603Penguin45

Hi Penguin45
The first four lights from the left are flashing along with a continuous beeping like when it has finished a programme.
