ParticipantI wonder if it might be possible to post here the length of manufacturer’s guarantees, parts guarantees and their labour charges for appliances under parts guarantees.
There seems to be some missunderstanding regarding the guarantee on some Indesit and Ariston machines for example.
Do factored built-in Hotpoint machines carry a five year parts guarantee?
Do all Bosch machines carry a 2 year guarantee?

Indesit/Ariston appliances carry a 1 year guarantee with the ‘option’ of their own 1 + 4 yrs guarantee.

Yes

Yes
Many other manufacturers guarantees can be found from their respective web sites. However most do not state their labour rates and only phoning their call centres will give that info I guess?

Siemens WIQ range should have manufacturer 10 year parts and labour guarantee but Comet manage to make this rather confusing by offering an extended warranty option on this machine.
Is there anyone mad enough to actually buy an extended warranty on a machine that already has 10 year guarantee 🙄
Very confusing subject this because of special offers and promotions which are for limited periods of time.

Had a bosch WFX3267GB/03 with a faulty pump today, As the machine was purchased in 28/6/04 I told cust to try to claim under the Bosch 2 year guarantee, But after reading the paperwork it looks like they will not honor it unless you register the machine first. If the customer claimed that she did send off the form would Bosch do the job under guarantee.
I feel a bit guilty about about this customer as previously she had a Creda (Hotpoint Clone) which had cost her about £150.00 in 2 years and when it died I suggested a Bosch as the best replacement😳 Goose

I have never had a problem because of customer not registering for guarantee. I would tell them to contact BSH customer service in Milton Keynes and ask to speak to Norman Pugh, the service manager.

ParticipantWhere do we stand on parts warranty, I buy most of my parts Through a hotpoint, hvr,Zan, ETC autherised dealer He also stocks Qualtex.
He does not keep any pcb in stock but will order on request (gen or Pattern) but he says on pcb he will not give any warranty, on the chance i buy one and it fails can he say this or as the seller does he have an obligation to exchange repair or refund.

Yes, he can stipulate that, trade to trade sales are different than to the public.
Electrolux for example have a strict no returns policy, you can’t send anything back unless it’s damged on delivery.
Most wholesalers are pretty good though I find with returns.

ParticipantRe: Length of manufacturer’s guarantees
you can see why they dont gaurantee some parts,
If somebody fits a timer and its not the fault, they might try and send it back
as faulty.
For timers and modules you cant beat E.M.W
they take them back and just charge a small retesting charge -
