ParticipantHi,
My trusty Hotpoint died after 9 years of service. After rummaging around for advice I decided an paying the extra and getting a reliable Miele WT2670 washer/dryer. I bought it from kitchenscience.co.uk and let me emphasise that none of my problems have been their fault.
The machine arrived and after plumbing it in we had about 20 hours use out of it after which it began tripping the ring circuit. As per the instructions in the manual I phoned Miele who dispatched a technician. 7 days later and after just under an hour he pronounced the machine to be healthy and that our fuse box must be at fault. He wasn’t interested in any kind of discussion over this, like my Hotpoint didn’t trip the circuit, his priority was to move onto the next job. We got an electrician in that same day who said – nope the sockets, circuit and fusebox are fine – it’s your machine “I was going to buy a Miele, I won’t now”.
After much phoning of Miele – they never call me back – we arranged a new technician to visit this coming Thursday, I don’t know why, I pointed out that as we’ve not been unable to use this machine since Aug28th, I would rather have a replacement so that at least we don’t waste any more time over this. Can’t be done apparantly, ho-hum.
I wrote the the MD over a week ago – no response and I don’t expect there will be.
I’ve decided Miele are crap and don’t care about customer service. I don’t know where they get their reputation from.
One phone call to Kitchenscience.co.uk and they are going to send out a replacement this week. Should have done that in the first place.Barry

Just make sure it is not a Hotpoint or you will be getting a machine that is mainly Indesit.
Meile are without doubt the best machine on the market, along with our own ISE 10 of course. 馃槈

That my be your experience. The Miele I have doesn’t work, and Miele don’t seem terribly bothered.

You are joking right? Just because one Miele doesn’t work doesn’t make all the rest unreliable and the company crap, I sing their praises, as they’re the only brand that test their products thoroughly. I honestly can’t believe you can say that about them , you’d favour a Merloni job would you, which have a failure rate of 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and i’d guess you’d rather contribute to that big hole in the ground then, thats where all the cheap models go.

Not the only one. Every ISE 10 (EVERY ONE) is tested before leaving the factory which is more than Miele do. 馃槈
I agree though Miele is generally a good product in the main, how their customer service is I honestly can’t say other than, out of warranty, it’s not exactly cheap.

According to the brochure, Miele test the drums for snags, the controls, the stability and door, they also test every machine before it leaves the factory.

KeymasterI know they do the snag testing but I wasn’t aware that every machine was water tested. The dishwashers always look way too clean inside for that.

I wasn’t aware but it seems they do test them which makes this problem the OP has all the weirder.
Mind you it wouldn’t be the first time that an over sensitive trip was a problem but even so, you’d think they’d try a little harder if all is as described.

Miele Appliances are the best I鈥檝e ever used, im only 22yrs old and already own 4 Miele appliances (Washing Machine, Condenser Dryer, Dishwasher, Vacuum cleaner) they all fantastic and when it comes to the time of replacing them I will once again go for Miele (once you use a Miele there is no going back). Me and my partner once we moved in to our apartment we bought a top end Hotpoint (baring in mind my mother had her Hotpoint ultima 9 years and ever had a spanner on it) thought it was a solid brand. How far wrong could I be had the machine 6 months and I had the following replacement parts fitted
路 2 door seals
路 1 motor
路 1 pump
路 2 bearings
路 Suspension armsI decided to dump the hotpoint machine and pay out more money up front and buy miele appliances. I cannot recommend Miele enough there built very well, they run sweet and over all a far better machines then the brands out on the market. I鈥檝e had my Miele appliances now for just ever a year and a half and there still as fantastic as they day I bought them!
Once really please consumer (James Bedford) 馃榾 馃榾 馃榾 馃榾

I generally find that once a customer has traded up to a Miele, nothing else will do when future appliances need replacing. Which from my point of view means happy retailer and customer.

Good grief, I have hundreds of Hotpoint machines on my patch much older than that, 馃榾
Sadly they were in decline even before the Indesit Company pushed them off a cliff. 馃槬

Hi Barry,
Have Miele or your supplier sorted out the problem yet, it could be an Electrical wiring problem in the house.September 25, 2007 at 5:27 pm #228452barrygardner
ParticipantRe: Miele – not as good as everyone says.
Not yet, but a new machine is arriving this week.
adamhornsby – I find the extent of your brand loyalty curious – you seem to be complaining that I am unhappy with the way Miele have treated me – obviously it must be my fault. How can anyone feel so strongly about any brand? I can say that I think they’re customer service is crap because that is my experience. If you have better experience then bully for you. I will base my opinions on my experience not on someone elses. Is that not the objective thing to do?
As for testing their products – be nice if they’d tested this one. Seriously I expect a little more from a brand with such a reputation to protect. If they provide a model that is faulty I expect them to fall over themselves trying to keep me satisfied instead of me having to badger them to get anywhere (still awaiting a reply to my letter by the way).
As for a wiring problem, I’d be surprised as we’ve not had any such problems in the 10 years we’d lived here and we’ve had an electrician check things. We’ll find out when my new machine arrives I guess.
