ParticipantHi Chaps,
I’m new here but I have a Neff 1452 built-in double oven which has just stopped working.I replaced the fan oven element about a year ago, when it burnt out and recently noticed the grill element in the main oven wasn’t working, so I replaced that too and all seemed to be working ok.
However, yesterday the fan element and the grill element were not working although the circotherm fan, light and clock were all ok and the bottom oven element was heating up correctly when selected. The thermostat seemed to be working correctly too. There’s nothing wrong with the top oven either.
On one of the previous posts (about a 1320 neff oven I beleive) an over heat cut out sensor was mentioned Is it possible that this has tripped on my oven and is causing the problem? I’ve looked at both elements and can see no evidence of burnout or shorting, and don’t want to replace the element if that’s not the problem.
Are there any other tests I could do to establish what the problem is?
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance

It sounds like it to be honest.
Can you get the full model from the rating plate (Enr…….) we can help identify correct part(s) for you then 🙂

thanks for the reply,
its a
U1452B2GB/01 FD8303 according to the sticker. Is it a hard job to change the part? I’m an electronics engineer, and can solder properly…

If it is an overheat cut out, the slightly worrying thing is what overheated to make it cut out….

Fan motor running slow? If you have the early version with the heavy alloy fan blade they were very prone to slow running. Or, thermostat not cycling properly.
Temperature limiter is p/no 057895 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get you one promptly.

No the fan runs at a fast speed and has never been a problem,
the thermostat still works correctly when the bottom element is heating up.anyway, we’ll see if it’s the temp limiter first.

OH well, it wasn’t the temp limiter,
If the fan element is open circuit, does that mean the grill element won’t function either, they seem to be in series with the temp limiter in between, which is ok (if a bit gunked up) .
The bottom element works fine and gets up to temperature, eventually, and the thermostat seems to be cycling correctly.
I’ll change the element and see if that does it.
Any other suggestions? Apart from getting a repair visit?

Possibly both the elements have failed ?
A continuity test is the easiest way to check them, I’m guessing you should have the required test equipment 😉

I only replaced the grill element a month ago, so I’d be surprised if that had gone again. I’ll fit the fan element and see if that does the trick.
I checked it with a multimeter and the fan element was OC, but I’m a little worried at the number of times this has happened now I changed the fan element at the beginning of last year and all had been fine until the recent bout of troubles.
If that doesn’t fix it, I’ll get someone in.

Odd, the fan element shouldn’t effect the grill element. Fan element is this one if you need it:

Which I’ll ammend shortly to include the 1452 models 😉

yes, that’s what I thought, I’ve got one on order anyhow,
But it raises the question why the elements keep blowing, Is there any other overheat sensor or control sensor that could be affecting things?
Thanks for your help.

yes I suppose when you think of it like that, it does make sense…
are Neff ovens any worse than any other brand for fan elements blowing?
I’ve always had Neff appliances 3 so far, and when they’re working they’re fine, but its only this last one that’s failed repeatedly with elements, I wondered whether there were any other likely suspects in the circuitry..
I could just be unlucky I suppose.
If I get my kitchen refitted are there any other makes which are more reliable, and have double oven (one with fan) capability?

Up and running again now,
fan element had blown and I guess the grill element has gone again too, I’ll re-check it some other time, but I can live without the grill element in the bottom oven, I’m a bit surprised it blew so quickly though, maybe it was faulty.., I might try and get a replacement under faulty goods…Thanks for your help.

Just a thought dedics , is it possible you`ve left a wire off the fan oven element because I`m pretty sure the neutral supply to the grill element is linked off of it.
If you fitted the element from the front it`s easily done , I know because I`ve done it myself 😳 .Hope that helps and power off of course :zap:

hi
normally neff ovens are pretty reliable
the most common element changed on these is the ring element (483636 changed to 493065)as the fan oven is the most commonly used function on these ovens, but they have just changed them to 499003 which indicates they have had a problem with the 493065
they did have a faulty batch of these elements about 2-3 years ago
as for the grill element (297516) if it is O/C i would return it to the supplier for a replacement under the guarentee (1 year with all neff parts)
