HI ,
Hate to spoil the party, but i’d check that those zan machines don’t have the sealed tubs fitted. If they do then any fault in the drum or tub assy will almost certainly result in the machine being scrapped even if it is only in it’s 2nd year.
It is not at all uncommon for the bearings to fail in the 2nd and 3rd years, this makes it a potentially expensive purchase. Sealed tubs are not at all uncommon now , but i would have serious reservations about buying any machine with such a design shortcoming.

To back up the last post, I had an Indesit with a sock jammed behind the drum last week, machine 13 months old with sealed drum, complete drum assembly required to repair. 😥

Fairly easy to check, most machines are constructed like an easter egg, in that they have two halfs which were untill recently screwed / bolted together . If the machine is laid on it’s back and you look up the bottom you will be able to see the joint in the tub , if it is sealed you will not see any bolts round the “easter egg” joint , ( discount the bolts holding the motor in place though) .
It’s maybe going off at a bit of a tangent but on checking your original posting i’d say it maybe a wee bit unrealistic to expect decent build quality in a washing machine for the same price as a dyson cleaner , which is predominantly made of plastic with no real engineering bits inside. But maybe thats just the way of the world just now .

Heh – I’m in Comet or another shed with a screwdriver…. “Can I take the lid off that one, please?”
Ain’t going to happen, is it?
Sealed tubs – Indesit, Ariston, Creda, Hotpoint, Zanussi, Tricity Bendix that we know about so far.
I don’t have a problem with cheap appliances – logically, they should have cheap parts, but they don’t. So repairability is costed out, encouraging the disposable mindset beloved of the “buy it cheap and throw it away” society we live in.
Save up and buy something decent.

What about Servis
The M6712 and M6725 with a 7kg load sound tempting.

and servis machines are worse than beko imoMarch 18, 2008 at 1:43 pm #246284madrat
ParticipantRe: Old Creda needs replacing
ISE2 only has 5kg wash load and the drop down door would foul on the dish washer. so no good for me.
oh well looks like a beko or I will have to plump for a sealed tub and hope for the best. 😕
