KeymasterNo worries Greg, but we have to be a bit aloof sadly. 😕
I’d have called him worse given the chance.

Oh well all quiet for now, somehow I feel temptation will get the better and he will either return or enter under a pseudonym (try typing that after a few JD’s 😆 )

KeymasterThanks Martin, just what we needed there. The thread brought back to life on a Monday morning and a mod agreeing with a guy that’s been a total prick all weekend in a public forum.
Well thought out that one.
If you had a problem you’d have been far better discussing it in here before going public.
And, point of fact, you are wrong and so is that idiot monkey in a suit.

He’s had three days. It’s ugly, it’s unseemly, it’s inappropriate and it doesn’t make us look good – half our frigging posters can’t string a sentence together either.
Please kick him out and put a stop to it.
Chris.

KeymasterRe: Anguis in herba
can’t quite agree Chris……..
I think the whole thread makes most posters seem qualified, it’s nice to see unity within the forum. Only Martin’s posts are in any way supportive of the “prat”, but thats what opinion is all about.
Prat has his and is doing a fine job of reducing his credibility to zero.
As for stringing sentences together, people can’t in the real world, try find someone who can say 20 words without pausing to think the next word and saying erm whilst they do it. Ugly, no definately not, shutting him out, no.
He will get fed up, move on, his insults have run their course and he’s lost hands down.

I agree with you Kevin, but he is just trolling as Dave said. He has no intention of carrying out a conversation, stuttered or not. So he’s banned now with the following note:
Banned for deliberate trolling. You’re too much of a fool to be allowed access.
If he’d tried to actually say anything instead of just winding people up I’d have let it go on quite happily, but he’s just being antagonistic.

How about moving both topics to Trade?? so public don’t have to look at this crap or do you think it serves a purpose?

And there was me thinking you were all having great fun with the subject, it certainly has got a reaction and shows many in their true light. 😕
Can’t quite agree with you Ken on my part on the subject. I rather consider my comments as harmless rhetoric and at no stage have I been rude or shown bad feeling toward anyones comments. I have never suggested someone piss in his washing machine or stooped to insults as others have. Besides I haven’t sided with his comments at all, I have simply accepted his arguement.
Engineer? or Repairer? who cares? Do we have to stoop so low as to argue over a name? Better to agree and then they go away – simply psychology, works every time! 😉

I totally agree Chris, why we moderators didn’t discuss simply deleting the whole irrelavant subject I do not know. It surely is degrading reading and harmful towards the public’s perception on us engineers(sic) 🙄

KeymasterRe: Anguis in herba
Nobody said you were rude Martin and some of the comments were getting a bit out of order. Debate or conversation it wasn’t. It was purely a slagging match and that was easy to see.
What I’m surprised the idiot didn’t latch onto was that you agreed with him which would have only served to further his argument with, “oh look, one of your own agrees and he’s even a moderator on this site”. I’m really surprised we didn’t get a comment like that. Sometimes it’s better just to sit back and shut up. And your tactic may have worked if everyone else did the same, as it stands you look to be the lone voice agreeing with a guy that’s made himself out to be a fool.
What you appear to have missed is the small fact that he was saying, in effect, that he was better than any of us and in a position in which he had the right to judge us. I didn’t agree and still don’t. I also do not see why that anyone should have to put up with an attitude like that. That was the real debate, not the rights to the title, which was only the vehicle employed to troll.
What has annoyed me is that, rather than have a reasoned debate and show the fool for what he is (which was pretty much accomplished anyway) many people simply resorted to hurling insults. Hardly clever, hardly giving the impression that we’d like to give. On that I do not disagree.
But I have to agree with Kevin, you either have free speech or you don’t. You either work together or you don’t. The two are simple and I think that, had you perhaps taken the time to explain to us what the hell it was that you were up to, we may have understood. Then, you do a complete 180 on the former position in your next post to the thread! If there’s logic there I sure as hell don’t get it.
But the forums are all about opinion, that’s essentially the meaning of the word and whilst we may not like all the opinions we can’t just arbitrarily ban people just because we don’t like them. No, I’m sorry, you have to take the rough with the smooth if you want credibility as being open and not censor people without justification. Likewise we can’t just delete threads and people’s opinions for the very same reasons.
High moral ground, perhaps. But it’s the way that these forums have been run since day one and, thus far, it’s served us well despite the odd little hiccup like this prat.
As I said, I have now banned both usernames, he was on a dynamic IP within the same range so I don’twant to affect other users or potential users by banning the IP range so there is the possibility that he signs up with another username. If he does so and obviously posts some inflammatory remarks just delete the post/s please and PM or email Dave or I and we will enforce a further ban.

I’ve moved them both to “General Trade Forum”, as probably Ken or Dave has locked the second one and since they have been banned (Not Ken or Dave 😀 )and mainly concerns trade members not the public it seemed a sensible choice.
Hope thats ok 😉Greg
