I admire the use of the “cock fighting” as restrained as it may be. 😉

Yes, it is odd indeed and I saw that one too.
It looks like a MAC address and not an IP which would normally indicate a spoof but, it could just be a muppet or a poor IT setup. Given the question posed, that wouldn’t be a shock.
The model number is valid, USA/Canada model top loader so it may well be a spammer but, too early to call it yet.
The f______rs are getting smarter though. :rolls:

Two posts from Martin Squires re dishwasher recalls, or trying to publicise his blog. Do we leave them be or ‘terminate’ them?

MartinSquires wrote:I only raised this as I noticed one of your members is asking a question regarding a recalled product, surely as part of your sites excellent repair advice you should also make them aware that they potentially have a product that can cause a fire. Believe me I am not and never will be out to make money just make people aware of public knowledge and avoid any harm to people or property. I know first hand how devastating this can be losing life.
I possibly made the mistake of not talking to admin before posting.
If as you say recalled products are public knowledge could you please inform me what steps you take when people ask questions about products on your site that you know are part of a recall.Best regards
Response…

It is not our place or within the scope of the forum to warn of recalls unless there is a glaring need. We already do that by way of the news and we are not here to be an unpaid police force nor are we in any way responsible or accountable in that regard.
That said, we do often point out any recalls where we pick up on it and it is appropriate to do so to the user.
But to assume that everyone in the trade is made aware of any safety recall would be a grave error.
To my knowledge and, unless you hold information to the contrary, there has been no loss of life due to this recall and, if the appliances are not left running unattended, as we strongly advise, coupled with a working smoke detector, then any potential issue extremely unlikely to cause any undue harm or anything beyond minor damage, if any other than to the appliance itself of course.
If people fail to follow or choose to ignore that standing advice then I can’t see what more anyone could reasonably expect from us.
There are very sound reasons why we advise in this manner for all appliances, not just Hotpoint or any other individual brand.

My guess is he’s off to think up some response.

As you will be aware I was responsible for locking the ‘DASA gone’ thread.
As the DASA web site has been back up and running for over three weeks now and the No:1 excreta stirrer himself wrote in his last post in that thread,
‘To prevent further animosity I suggest the matter therefore closed if that suits you both’
I thought it was rather unedifying to see two of the older and now retired members, Oldtog and Alex knocking lumps off each other. :rolls:
If ever I become a grumpy old git like the aforementioned please feel free to terminate me. 😉
