ParticipantHi, your expert help is required please…….. :worthy:
Currently waiting for the new Kitchen units to arrive, ready for me to make the doors. Now all we need are the appliances, easier said than done.
SWMBO is pulling her hair out with all the different appliances, as really doesn’t want to spend the earth but would like something middle of the road so to speak.
We have to choose the usual appliances & this is what she has come up with;
Built-in Double Oven Electric (Would like it as Fan, with no grill element in main oven if possible, as she thinks it will be a pig to clean). Height not important, as we can make it fit. Width needs to fit a 600mm wide unit. The main oven as be as poss (56+ litres).
(The ones she’s looking at are; AEG D57014M or Neff U1422 or Neff U1442)
Built-in Dishwasher (fully integrated) – 12 setting, height adjustable top basket.
(The ones she’s looking at are; Electrolux ESL 63010 or Bosch SGV46M43GB or Neff S54M45X5GB)
Built-in Mircowave – (something good sized, combination microwave, oven & grill. As have big family parties & will often use Both ovens & a combie Mircowave at the same time)
(The only one she’s found is; LG SolarDom MP9485SB – Really not sure about this one, so still looking around)
Free-standing Fridge Freezer; Up to 700mm wide, as near to 50/50 split as possible.
The one she’s found is; Hoover HCF6200W (again a little concerned about Hoover, but the interior is what she wanted, & it doesn’t look that bad on the outside)
Cooker Hoods; Glass & stainless combie, she thinks the glass will be easier to clean. So looking at the Luxair & Elica ranges 900mm wide.
Hob; Electric, as have used ceramic/halogen for years & get along well with it. Again looking for something that is easily cleaned so push buttons would be ideal. Still looking around for this, but unsure whether to go for another ceramic/halogen combi or the new induction
Well, now I’ve bored you to tears, just put yourselves in my shoes & imagine what I have been though this wk/end :rolls: (I did manage to watch the Rugby! 😉 ). So many checklists, “We must check WHICH”, “no those buttons will be difficult to clean”, “How can that oven be easy clean when the grill element is in the oven?”.
Oh lads, I truly hope that some of the choices she (ok I should be supportive) we have made will be ok.
Your advice on any of the above would be great. Are they reliable, are the parts easy to get hold of, will it all go to rat-s**t just after the warrant?
If she could have some insider knowledge from those who have to work on them, we can definitely sign the deal.
It’s Rugby again on Sat, so please stop me from having to watch it from the corner of my eye in Comets, Currys & such like! :haier:
Cheers.

Hi TLO
You seem to have done all the hard work already 😉 Neff built in double oven 900 high (which all ovens are) will do you well. As far as the grill and cleaning are concerned forget it as it is not a problem when it comes to cleaning 😉 . Dishwasher, microwave and hood, Neff everytime. As for the hob I would go for the touch control Neff as well, they are so easy to use and keeping it clean is childs play. As far as ceramic against induction goes, the latter needs to be installed with plenty of ventilation as per the installation instructions. Free standing fridge freezer personally I would forget the Hoover and look at the Bosch and Hotpoint ranges much better reliability and longer life span.

Thanks Don,
Well I must say it’s the missus that’s done the hard work. But now looks likely that we will be spending more time out looking for Neff extractors & Hobs & bosch Fridge/Freezers.
Guest it’s another wkend full of appliance delights. :eeek:
We pretty much exhausted the local appliance stores & not much Neff stuff about. That’s seems odd considering it’s supposed to be one of the best?!
Anyone know of somewhere around the Devon/Somerset border that will have a good display of Neff?
Cheers.

Magnet supply Neff appliances, I should think there would be some on display. As for which ones you choose, I would choose Neff or Miele depending on how much you’re wanting to spend. As for the 70cm fridge freezer, Miele are the only other brand I can think of that make that width. Forget the Hoover, too much trouble, have been for over a decade. 😉

Indeed but I think you’ll find Magnet only sell the cheap end of the Neff product market. Some are re-badged appliances too so my choice to see a good range of Neff on display would be any John Lewis store. 😉

Try the AEGS75438KG and Hotpoint FF47MX both available in stainless steel and at reasonable prices.
If budget is not so tight and you want to go the extra mile then one of these two which again are both stainless steel Fisher & Paykel E442BLX A rated with a two year warranty or the Siemens KG49NA90GB which is probably the best IMO A+ energy with a full five year warranty.
Whichever appliances you go for get a bottle of this stainless steel cleaner http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/product_ … cts_id=991 It does do what it says on the label bought some a while ago when our new kitchen was fitted.

Thanks Adam & Martin, yes have now been to Magnet.
Don, thanks for the info on the AEG & Hotpoint.
I’m not sure it was a good thing, but she went to Spillers in Chard (excellent selection of items apparently). But has come back with loads more to digest.
Worried now that the oven sizes are too small, as AEG are 53lts & Neff 58ltrs (she’s used to 64 ltrs) & can’t use the bottom of the oven like she used to do either, making it even smaller. So may have to be a single oven & then one of the large built in combi microwaves (AEG 40ltrs? I think).
Adam, SWMBO thanks you, (I’m not so sure :stir:) as she’s now looking at the Miele KFN8862SD :rolls: , although it’s only 600mm wide. Basically because of the freezer litres (123L net), where as the hotpoints are only 116L (gross). A fair few more pennies, but at least she realises that the one she really likes (Miele KFN8992) should only be on her dream list!!!!!
I had thought the dishwashers were sorted, or at least narrowed down or th Neff or Bosch. We now have the AEG F88070VI, “cause it’s so quite & has 5year guarantee”, added to the list.
Also looking at the De Dietrich Induction hob. We had ruled out induction because of the room needed. However she was assured by the “Helpful” sales assistant, that as we would be putting the hob over drawer (cutlery) this would be fine. These seem a lot of money & really don’t want to buy something that will not work properly as fitted incorrectly.
If only all this stuff were made by Land Rover, I would understand it all then. All ordered & installed by the weekend! 😉 Still I can dream, can’t I?
I know this is dragging on now, feel for me lads, feel for me…….. :haier: Your support so far has been great  , so any more input would be fantasic. :worthy:
Thanks guys,

Good choices, Neff and Aeg are (i hope, thats what we’re getting) very reliable. As for your induction hob, they can be placed above anything because they dont get hot unlike traditional hob technologies. May I warn anyone buying a new kitchen, not to step near a Howdens job, because I’ve just helped my dad fit one and they are the most cheapest and filmisist things you can imagine.

And you’ve fitted how many Adam?
They are in fact as good or bad as any bulk kitchen manufacturers product, and the quality is very much in how well they are installed…

Enough thanks very much and the Howdens will be the first and the last 😉 , and I was helping my dad install it for a relative. My dad is also a reptuable joiner (self employed), very much so that clients keep coming back to him. The kitchen it’s self is tacky and very cheap. Not very well designed for the installer, and half of the joints were breaking, and the whole ambience seemed a bit Chinese from the taps, plumbing kits and extractor hood.
I worked for Magnet, and they are very good kitchens, Magnet know how kitchens are supposed to be made, not susprising they come from Yorkshire.
Question is Clive, how many kitchens have you fitted?Adam.

adam, exactly how many is ENOUGH? im sure its hundreds at the ripe old age of 17, what with your college work and stuff… uve obviously been in the ‘trade’ and fitted multitudes of kitchens, since you left school at ooh, 16?
maybe, just maybe, you might consider the fact that some of these guys have been fitting/installing/repairing these things for well over 30 years in some cases, so maybe you should bear that in mind when u try to start another one of your ‘constructive’ criticisms?
joiners arent electricians, and thats not saying your dad isnt good at what he does.. joiners cut wood.. they dont repair appliances
fitting a kitchen doesnt always give you an idea of the quality or lifespan of it, so please think on.. in some cases ‘flimsy’ or ‘cheap’ doesnt ALWAYS mean rubbish.. in fact most guys on here will tell you that a gas hob is usually reliable, regardless of price
ill say it again, and its a testament to the op, that people work to a budget, thats why they come here to ask… unfortunately, its not always an option to get top quality appliances, something has to give, and thats why they ask our advice
