a powercut has killed this steam oven at 3am in the morning 😮 thanks uk power.

    its a hbc26d550/01

after pulling it out and taking a look i can see there is minimal parts inside, well it is a big kettle, but i did notice there is a small hairline crack on one of the resistors and a burning smell from the power board so i would assume that is the culprit.

are these cracks indicative of a duff resistor ?

would need to see more of the board

resistor is an inrush supressor and acts as a fuse. look like it should measure 47 ohms

this feeds a rectifier and the 2 caps i think which should be rated 400v. There will then be a chip to lower the voltage

    Hi

what’s the best way to test for faulty component’s ?

you would need to check each component with a meter. test depends on what that component is

start with the resistor and see if it reads

    cheers

will that resistor show a true value through while attached to the board ?

should do to be honest if its a bit lower its no problem what we are trying to find out if its blown and then it will be thousands if not millions of ohms

where could a buy a replacement resistor from ? or even a new board

Resistor should not be hard. Would need the value off it and then rs components should have. It looks like a 3 watt fusible resistor and all we need is the value in ohms. Looks like it may be 47 ohms from the colors. Yellow purple

new board if available can be go here. https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/customer-service/spare-parts-search

cheers seems these are cement wire round fusing resistors. i have used the resistor calc
    im reading right to left white violet then gold and gold. 9.7ohm tolerance 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

Can’t see website seems to be down. As long as it’s fusible and about 3 watt should be fine. Resistance should be ok for the job.

if new one goes pop as soon as you turn on we will have to look deeper

I would also check the bridge rectifier to see if that’s short circuited
