I’ve got to nail this down for September so –
1) What do we want from Qualtex? What do we really NEED from them ATM apart from the promise of support in the future as the WTA expands?
2) I need to give Qualtex the dates but I’ve held off for the decision on the venue.
3) If we are to meet Phil, what needs to be asked? I can do it myself and post the outcomes on here (without committing to anything…….had to say that!!) or do we need a group meeting; is that necessary at this stage?
At the meeting, it was suggested that it was predictable where Phil was going with his offer to help. Surely ATM the only thing to secure is the discount scheme and the spreading of the WTA message using Qualtex’s customer base. The legal help offer is interesting though IMO not needed yet.
The September meeting is hopefully going to showcase the WTA and all we need is Qualtex to reiterate that support to the attendees. In that case, they will need a slot in the proceedings and how that pans out will have to be decided on. I feel ATM I cannot say anything concrete to them but time is getting short; I really need to know if we are or are not going to invite Qualtex for a presentation spot on their products (like Masterpart did) with them offering discount to WTA members and their support for the TA or just for the presentation.
The other things that Phil mentioned are for future consideration; we need to concentrate on building membership numbers first.Comments please!!

This is just my personal opinion Steve, no more, no less.
And, a lot of this is because I anguish over detail but refuse to be trapped by it on almost everything I do.
First thing is to meet with Phil, well before the September meet, I would suggest a date in early August and nail that date down ASAP.
Go with an open mind, be prepared to wing it.
Find out what Qualtex wants to do, what they want from the WTA. Discuss, ponder, figure stuff out.
Once you know or, can surmise what is required or wanted, then you can choose a course. Without having a clue what’s going on there’s little sense in taking pot shots in the dark as to what “they” want. So far it isn’t a negotiation, it’s just a chat unless there’s something I’m missing?
I can pretty much guess where this is gonna go though although I’d like to be proved to be wrong on some fronts just for the surprise of it.
The first thing is a meet to get a feel for it.
Meeting dates are no issue and I’d freely offer them to Phil or Qualtex in general. I’d also point out that we’re opening it to all to show wares and sign up accounts when they’re there.
Cost, the cost of the additional room split between the parties using it. Seems reasonable to me and, we’ll even send the bill before the event. That covers the TA for the cost of the second room, result.
Some sort of meeting with Phil is a must I’d say to get a feel for where this is going. That can be done wherever, Manchester, Kilmarnock or wherever, it really doesn’t matter. Of course if you want to do a meeting on “home turf” as it were, the meeting room at Kilmarnock is almost always available if required, free.

Just and update on this ,we have invited Phil Hume to Kilmarnock on Fri 5th August .
We had to move fast on this due to the R/C situation ,we are going to do the full OFT gap analysis at the same time (obviously not with Phil there )
Sorry no advance notice Steve but like I say we had to move quickly ,are you able to be there or are you okay if Myself,Ade&Ken deal with him ?

Sorry Steve but Phil was speaking to me over the whole DSG debacle, seems that there’s a lot of p1ssed off Qualtex customers. 😉
The opportunity arose, I took it. We need to do the COP thing anyway. It was one of those spur of the moment, in conversation things.
But if you want to fly up for then it’s no issue, I’ll sort it and it’d be good if you could make it.
I know there’s no way you’d hack the driving. 😉
Basically in Kilmarnock I have set it up in such a way as you can do almost anything you could ever want for meetings. From a dedicated room (can accommodate about 12 people roughly) to all the IT you could ever want, video conferencing and, soon, telephone conferencing as well. And, for the TA, other than the cost to get there, there is no charge for using all the facilities that we have, they are completely at the TA’s disposal so long as there’s nothing else booked.
Plus, it’s always nice when you play on home turf. 😉

Yes, you may as well go ahead as there’s nothing more I think I can add to what’s already been said. It must be because I don’t do any contract work that I don’t get the cryptic hints about where this is going, so maybe it’s better if you guys deal with it as TBH the devil is always in the detail.
For the record – nothing has been formally agreed, signed or undertaken any form of contract with Qualtex. Phil laid out what Qualtex was offering, quite a bit of it will be very beneficial to us, he is aware that the WTA is independent so therefore will not be subject to outside influences from vested interests.

To Update you all we had a very productive day ,the result of which is that at the Sept mtg we will be announcing the following –
WTA members will receive a 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount on every order when they type in there membership no .
If they place an order before 6pm yes thats 6pm then if the part is in stock it will be there next day !
and at the end of every year Qualtex will total the amount spent by WTA members and reimburse 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} back to WTA central funds.
All of this will happen from Sept and must be kept quiet untl then .
They will also pay for a flyer promoting the mtg and the WTA and mail out to all 3000 of there accounts as well as putting them in parcels ,We got on very well with Phil and he is very supportive of what we are doing .
Thanks Steve for all the spadework I hope that we achieved the kind of result you were expectingAugust 10, 2010 at 12:18 am #286722aqualectric

Result!! 😀 Well done!!
That makes it worthwhile!! I was sure you would like what was being offered and I understood the scepticism at first; but this is the type of support we need in these difficult times. 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount is wonderful as the Q’tex SW manager reckoned Phil wouldn’t go more than 5 – 6{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on fast moving items. I pushed for twice that at the beginning and the response was still positive. And when I finally got past Mark Etherington and spoke directly to Phil, he was very keen on the ideas we had and kept offering more. Brilliant – that’s going to get a lot of people’s attention.
Was there anything said about the offer to use the Qualtex legal department services? Also the possibility of a network of WTA approved repairers with Qualtex backing us? That’s still on the cards and could be useful if the current crisis in the DSG camp continues. I noted in the DSG / RC threads that NESN were getting some Currys work, and that NESN are using Qualtex as their spares supplier. All in the future but nonetheless very interesting…… 😉Thanks for the feedback – I was wondering how it turned out on Friday.
Cheers,
Steve.
