All you engineers? So, you’re saying that over 500 of us (given that there are over 1000 trade members on UK Whitegoods), to have a clear majority, have said that Samsung refrigeration is good. I don’t think so and only serves to show how uninformed your opinion actually is.
I have already told you, complain to Samsung, they made it, not us.
And unfortunately machines do break, all of them, the only question is on how long they will run before they do. That is unless there’s been some radical scientific breakthroughs that I’m unaware of and it’s also why any industry that uses mechanical devices requires the ability to repair when they do break. You know, little things, like a car dealer network… stuff like that.
I’m sorry kr1664uk but I think your opinion is massively uninformed and confrontational. I would suggest that you focus your energies on complaining to the people that can actually do something about your obvious issues with Samsung and that would be, well, Samsung really.

As mentioned by KWatt-contact Samsung and tell them the issues you have. However there will be a limited amount they can do if your unit is OOW. Please stop directing your frustration at those of us her that are merely trying to help.

Oh dear
A can of worms
I only asked about a problem not realising I was still under warranty and thought nothing more of it oh well. I had the problem repaired by samsung on the 03/05/07 the man replaced the fan cover and according to my wife as I was not there the cooling manifold as well. He also stated to her that he has never had one of these models have that problem but normally older ones.(I wasnt there wife could have been confused)
Well the problem has happened again and luckily I still have 1 month left on the warranty. So Mr Samsung Engineer is coming out on Wednesday this week and I obviously want to make sure he is replacing what he needs to replace and not the fan housing cover as he did before as there seemed nothing wrong with it.
My new question is what parts do I need to solve this problem from your online store? Ie. is it just a sensor ( as said by helo_75 on page 1) just so I can mention it when the engineer comes around and quiz him.November 12, 2007 at 3:24 pm #210233wookiebear

Not a lot really apart from there’s worse out there and worse companies than Samsung.
But now you can go claim your refund or free repair from Samsung.

KeymasterPerhaps, but can we avoid getting into a slagging match, especially with personal comments or attacks as we’re not about that on here.
I don’t know that Samsung should have been the only one facing trial by TV either but it’s done now, we have to live with it whether we agree or not.

im just sick of the consumer rights brigade
it isnt fair to pick a fight with us for offering what should be impartial advice
like we made these appliances? nope, but we get dragged into the argument time and time again

KeymasterTBH it’s great in my opinion…
People get it done free, so no more whining about it.
We get to fix them without any problems.
Samsung come good with and do right by their customers.
What’s not to be happy with?
If people want to do the “I told you so” thing, fine them have their little bit of fun as they’re the ones that didn’t buy a proper US fridge freezer in the first place. 😉

This was a family discussion we had last night after the programme when I said ” that Samsung were just a budget copy of the original machines bought into the UK by the likes of Whirlpool and Maytag the true manufacturers of the American fridge freezer”
Okay, so I get set upon by the baying hounds 😆 with all the usual comments like it should still last longer than a year before going wrong, they should be of merchantable quality and if I were them I would be going to trading standards etc etc.
Whoa hold on a minute says I, “these copies of the originals which are built to a much higher standard with prices starting at about a grand are much better built and are more reliable than the Korean copies like Samsung etc”. The old nugget getting what you pay for still applies even in this day and age you know.
Now I know that £600 odd pound is a lot of money to be spending on an appliance and naturally we think that by spending that amount we expect that it will give us many years of trouble free service. But the truth is Whirlpool and Maytag have got it right by not corner cutting in design and manufacturing which in turn improves reliability. Yes I know it costs about a grand, but it will last longer and it will turn up at the recyling centre long after one of the “copies”. Therefore giving better value for money in the longer term.
The family decided in the end that by paying just that little bit more you would get a higher level of enjoyment, peace of mind and value for money.
Common sense prevails 😀
