I am having similar problems to other posts regarding Samung fridge/freezers.

If someone can point me in the right direction with regards to the cause(s) of the problem I would be most grateful.
Symptoms are from power on, compressor starts ok and both fridge & freezer reach desired temperature as selected via front panel. However these temperatures are not maintained despite the display still showing -18/ 3 as selected. At some point the compressor must start up again as I have checked using a thermometer and both fridge and freezer do return to the selected operating temperatures. Then the cycle repeats itself. I have noticed that once the temperature inside the freezer has risen above a certain point the -18 displayed on the front starts flashing. Temperature inside freezer was above 0C at this time.
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Bryan,

Have done as suggested. After the 10 seconds all symbols light up and all segments of both temperature displays ( i.e. 88’s are shown).

    Thanks for the quick response.

Ah a misunderstanding – Press the buttons as earlier – hold in for ten seconds, during this period the facia lights will flash, keep the buttons held in and when the facia goes blank tell us what you see. What you are looking for is part of a temperature numeral alight.

Right, done as instructed. Buttons held in for 10secs. Display flashes as described then goes blank. However stays blank (no part of temperature segments light up). After 30 seconds display the returns to normal.

    Thanks once again.

Can any one suggest what the problem might be or what I can do to assist in the fault diagnosis.

    hi

To be honest if the display hasnt got any fault code then it may well be a heater or defrost sensor out of calibration, sensor isnt a problem to fit but heater might be a bit more tricky if you dont know what your doing.

might be a good idea for an engineer visit.

Hi darryl, I have Samsung SR-S2028CVW Seems to have very similar if not identical fault as your own, I`m at the stage of trying to get info on how to test defrost sensors at the moment, let me know if you have any joy getting your unit diagnosed/repaired, and I`ll do the same. Hopefully we might get a result that may fix two fridges 😉 Good Luck….. Dave

Much of the Samsung range suffers icing up of the cooling components, in many cases a manual defrost will sort the problem, (unplug and leave doors open for a full 48 hours) if the problem returns it may be worth ringing Samsung themselves as there are modified parts available for much of the range, there are literally dozens of 2028 varients so it’s difficult to be exact, quote the BOM code on the label stuck to the lower left side of the cabinet to help the techie people narrow which version you have.

Just an update. The problem has now been sorted. Both sensor and heater defective. Both replaced and now working ok.

Thank you to all those that offered advice.

They may not supply parts but always been ok for giving advice when narrowing down parts for me…. the 2028 range runs to more than two A4 pages of different models….

Re: Samsung SR-S2028 Not maintaining correct temperature

    Hi,

I hope that someone can help me. We have a 2028 where the freezer is not going below 9C. I have pressed the buttons as mentioned above, and the bottom horizontal element of the freezer side temperature stays lit.

We have ordered another freezer, but if I can get an answer fast we may be able to cancel the order.

    Many Thanks for any responses

Re: Samsung SR-S2028 Not maintaining correct temperature

    Hi

The botttom bar on the freezer side shows that the freezer fan has not reached its running speed.Normally caused by the freezer door not being shut correctly as the freezer side doesnt have many problems.

Try turning the whole appliance off with both doors left open for 48 hours and then restart the appliance normally.
