Further to discussions at Bromsgrove, we need to lay out the grounds for the elections in September. Below is a proposed post for the General WTA Forum. Please comment/amend as you see fit.

    ————————————————————————————-

The WTA was formed at the UKW September Meeting of 2007 and a Commitee elected by those members present, with a mandate to serve a term of two years. Those two years are now coming to a close and the Membership is invited to vote upon a Commitee to serve for the next two years.

The current standing Commitee consists of:

    Lawrence Carey (Lawrence)
    Bryan Williams (R600A)
    Jim Banks (IADOM)
    Adrian Whelke (Washdoctor)
    Sean Delaney (Del)
    Chris Chantrell (Penguin45)
    Steve White (Aqualectric)

Co-opted members of the Commitee are currently:
    Ken Watt (kwatt)
    Ian Dales (Dales-electric)

Jim Banks and Sean Delaney wish to step down from the Commitee. I hope that the Membership will join with the Commitee in thanking them for their work over the last two years.

    The Commitee requests that:

    Lawrence Carey
    Bryan Williams
    Adrian Whelke
    Chris Chantrell
    Steve White

be re-elected to serve a further two years.

We further propose that Ian Dales be formally elected to serve on the WTA Commitee.

Invitations are extended for a nominee to fill the remaining place on the Commitee. Applicants should be aware that this is not a cushy number! We pay our own way at meetings, which, including the UKW/WTA conferences, number four per year at present.

As Secretary to the Commitee, I would ask that any formal request to stand for election be made directly to myself – chris.chantrell@ntlworld.com – by no later than 16.8.2009.

This is the proposal of the WTA Commitee. We invite a free debate from the Membership in this thread and any alternative proposals will be fully discussed.

    Chris Chantrell,
    Secretary to the Commitee,
    White Goods Trade Association.

I think we need to get something like this posted reasonably soon to allow any discussions required to take place in good time. You never know, the rest of them might think we’re rubbish 😀 .

    Re: September 2009

    I knew that, forgot. 😕

In response to Jim’s post earlier though, I didn’t want to post it in the more open forum…

Damn! That means using Firefox. 😉

I’ll do it over the weekend if someone reminds me to do so as I will forget and I’m out all day tomorrow from about 6am till God knows when at night. I’ll be as much use as a chocolate fireguard on Saturday as well due to the mileage etc. I have to do. 🙁

There’s probably more news and updates that need doing there as well, I’ve just not had the time of late I’m afraid. Plus, to be perfectly honest, I’m knackered and need a proper holiday.

On which note, I am off to the States in a few weeks in the hope of a proper rest, the first time we’ve pulled that off since 2005. I think it’s about due.

So, for a week David and I are only available via email.

We’re off to eat, drink and catch the odd show as well as hopefully chill a bit.

Of course my laptop is going with me and I will have net access as usual.

As per Jim’s suggestion, have put article into WTA site. Ken will now have to find it and stick it up for the world to see.

    Re: September 2009

The tumbleweed appears to have stopped blowing through Electionville….

    Mail received from Steven today:
    —————————————————————————
I am not committing to this yet, but just want to know what is involved in being on the committee, need to see if I can spare the time?

    1) How many hours does each member have to do?

    2) Do you hold regular meetings and are you expected to go to all?

    3) If so where are they held?

    4) Are there any other benefits to being a member?

    Steven

    —————————————————————————-

Any comments before I reply to him?

    Chris.

    Re: September 2009

Yep, tongue in cheek but, in order…

1: No expectation other than the surrender of any life that you have thought you once had.

    2: Yes, wherever and whenever.

    3: As 2

4: The glory of being involved. Maybe more, but it’s not quite clear what they are.

I’m thinking it might need some work as an answer. :rolls:

    Re: September 2009

One thing, while we’re on the subject…

I know we have the whole September thing going on and, since we’re discussing it, is there anything needing done for that meeting other than turning up?

I’ve a few ideas as normal but I would like to know if there’s anything I need to do in terms of prep work.

Chris, have you got that PA system you were talking about as, I have an idea on that front that you’d probably be better to sort out rather than me making an ar$e of it?
