Does anyone know why Indesit / Creda / Hotpoint tumble dryer drums (after about 2 years) starts rubbing the back of the dryer. The drum seems to move from front to rear a small amount allowing this to happen. What is worn and needs replacing?
    Regards to everyone.

    Re: Td Drum rubbing

I usually pack some washers on the drum shaft to push it forwards. This works for me.

The drum has been completely modified, rounded off at the back , also the rear seal is thicker.

They’ve also put handles on the sides to help you get it in the skip 😉

its the fluff that builds up around the fron seal/pads that pushes it back

if its 2 yrs old, it will need a drum

    is it vented or condenser?

    Because it’s rubbish.

We sold one to a regular customer, it ripped an item of clothing on the first use due to the gap at the front.
The fluff builds up due to the gap, it just dosn’t seal properly, also had a facia melt due to heat escaping from the front. Maybe best to put a washer on the drum before it’s sold 😯

    there shouldnt be a gap

if there is, the felt seals missing, or you havent put it on the supports properly

the drum part number is 1703662 btw

you dont need to put a washer on the shaft if you use that drum, but i always fit a shaft kit , pt number 1703080, if the front pads are worn!!

    hope this helps

If you are fitting the 1703662 drum to a back panel with square rear bearing the washer stays if to the tear drop back panel it doesnt.

    nope… that aint true

i fit 1-2 of these a week, and i never put a washer on, the whole idea of the new drum was to do away with the shaft kit

i aint gettin into a debate about it, its always optional, of course
