1 Fluke multimeter say £150 warranty 12 months – calibration after 12 months, ie ongoing costs – puts it in to context and yes you can still use the Fluke without calibration but would you want to?

Martin you are trying to justify your comments about cost, i would say most of the engineers spend more than £40 a year on tools, air fresheners, pens, cleaners etc etc, this is just another tool which in my opinion is not a lot of money at all, like most things we have to pay for its true value is only realised when it gets us out a hole or solves a problem, like liability insurance, i have never claimed yet spent thousands on it, also i spend more than £40 a year washing my van!

    Re: The Fault Code Guide

I am all too aware of the importance of ‘tools’ Doc, be they Torx drivers, test meters or text books. And only too aware of how valuable the previous issues of The Fault Code Guide is and has been. As a major contributor myself to many of the fault codes within the guide I can only imagine at what Ken and Sundeep have now transformed it into with their new version. I’m sure the thousands of hours dedicated in creating this ‘app’ will, for many at least, be well worthwhile the investment. And I look forward to reading the forthcoming ‘reviews’ that will no doubt follow once publication is finalised.

Meanwhile I will continue to search out more information and even more fault codes so that they in turn can easily be added to this exciting new format. Meanwhile I hope you will be one of the first subscribers and give us the benefit of your appraisal in the ‘Reviews’ section.

Hi K and all behind this app

So so glad to have this app. I’ve been waiting with baited breath for it for so long and sorry for nagging for it so much.

As to all who is complaining about the price. Speaking from experience as an ex computer/software engineer the man hours alone to get such an app to the market, is so overwhelming that very few of you could every comprehend.

This app should be costing four times the price or maybe more. So as the old saying goes,

DO NOT LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH

    Thanks again.

    Re: The Fault Code Guide

It took so long to get it onto iOS again due to the rather restrictive practices on subscriptions that Apple insist on and there’s bog all that we can do about it as we must comply with the app store rules. It’s not ideally what I wanted and does not allow the options that I wanted but no other options were available.

It appears that the subscription model only works for periodicals like magazines, newspapers and the likes and was not intended for use in apps. What the solution may be is to use an in-app “credit” purchase type affair but, in the interests of getting this available as quickly as possible saving the need for more development, we did it the way we did to get round that.

If other manufacturers that don’t have info listed there want it to appear, let me know and I’ll update the database.

Same thing if you spot codes that aren’t there and have a list, just give me the info and I’ll add it.

Do bear in mind though that, presently, it’s a party of one doing that, me. So, additions can take a bit of time.

There are some that I’ve added or am in the process of adding that will appear on the first database update.

Just so as we’re as clear as possible here’s the links for the app that are available for iOS and Android devices currently.

    Android Devices

Available from the Google Play store from this link

    Apple iOS Devices

Available from the iTunes store from this link

    Re: The Fault Code Guide

    Dunno what you’ve done Martin.

For me it opens up iTunes after loading the page on iTunes, app downloads and works.

    Re: The Fault Code Guide

Got it from that link but when I try to obtain the ‘Full Version’ I get ‘Subscription failure’ message????

    Jim.

    Okay.

Managed to get as far as the Register Your Account page, created account, selected restore and get the message, Success, the in-app restored to the last purchase. When I open the app all I have is the ISE codes?

    Re: The Fault Code Guide

You need to do the stuff in there to make it work. 😕

Press the “Full Version” button and it takes you to the page to buy it.

    K.
