    Re: The Martin conumdrum.

Wahay…He has finally cracked. I have just received the following PM from him. 😆

    ………………………………………………………………………………….

    Hi there Jim,

    What’s this …….The Martin Conundrum?………….

Have I upset someone or causing someone concern?

Surely not after all my dedication to the folks on UKW and all the help and advice I shelled out this last 6 years….no cause for private debate is it?

Come on mate let me in on what grips and who with.

    Thanks

    All the best

    Martin

    Re: The Martin conumdrum.

He obviously knew just why I had bumped this thread.

He was replying to this post.

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … 221#218221

Now Cockney Steve does go on a bit, but he appears quite clued up, never gives dangerous advice and regularly mentions that he is not an expert.

The gist of Martins now self deleted post was saying that Cockney shouldn’t get involved, the motor fault needed sorting first. He then finished his post by saying,

‘Please leave this sort of thing to us experts, theres a good chap’.

    What a Wazzock.

Although Martin will know that I have read his PM I haven’t answered him yet, I may sleep on it. 😆

    Jim.

    Re: The Martin conumdrum.

    Replied this morning as follows.

    Morning Martin,

Unfortunately I cannot disclose the contents of a closed forum thread without the full consent of all the people who have access to it.

Suffice to say that the removal of one of your posts yesterday, which I’m assuming you did yourself suggests that you may have an inkling as to the general gist of the aforementioned thread.

No one has ever doubted the huge amount of help and advice you have given over the years. We are also well aware of other things you have done behind the scenes with regard to the initial ISE project etc.

That said a significant proportion of your posts over the years have had an ‘edge’ to them. Ranging from pleasant and helpful, through the slightly disparaging to downright arrogant and bombastic. In fact at the very first UKWG’s meeting I attended several years ago one member described you as a ‘keyboard terrorist’.

For most of the intervening years people just accepted it as part of your make up but in recent times you do appear to be going out of your way to be confrontational, both in the trade forums and more recently on the public side.

Calling helo_75 irresponsible and saying to Cockney Steve ‘ leave it to the experts, there’s a good chap’ are two prime examples.

helo_75 did burst onto the boards like a bull in a china shop but with careful handling has become a very useful and helpful member of the forum. He has also given Chris and me invaluable help and information behind the scenes.

Cockney Steve does ramble on a bit, getting in far to deep at times, however he does appear to have a wealth of electro mechanical knowledge, never advises anyone to do anything unsafe and regularly qualifies his posts by stating that he is not an expert.

Your replies to helo_75 were uncalled for and as the public poster noted looked unpleasant at the very least. Your reply to Cockney Steve was downright rude and condescending to say the least.

For whatever reason you are no longer a moderator so if you see any post that gives you cause for concern then if you report it to a mod we will consider it and take the appropriate action.

All we ask is that before you hit the ‘submit’ button you preview your posts and just ask yourself, ‘how would I feel if someone answered me in this manner’.

    Regards.

    Jim.

    This was his reply.

    Morning to you too Jim,

Thank you for your reply. I fully accept your comments and acknowledge my being out of order toward Cockney Steve. Having spotted your thread scroll up the screen I realised that that was the likely reason for your post and hastily deleted mine less further offence be taken.

Do rest assured that in future I will refrain from posting anything to anyone that I wouldn’t wish to be the recipient of myself…….that I promise!

    My best regards

    Martin

    And my supplementary reply.

You see Martin, therein lies the conundrum, how to reconcile a longstanding, valuable member of the forum with his ‘alter ego’.

Dr Jeckyll would have been far more popular without Mr Hyde.

    Regards.

    Jim.

We will see how long he can manage to keep himself in check. :rolls: 🙂

Another point is, that “The Martin Conundrum” could easily apply to others besides him.

The nice thing is, he won’t know if we’re talking about him or someone else. 😉

Well done for that Jim. 😀

Apart from the fact it’s odd that I’m still awake on a Wednesday morning…

What’s with Madrat, is he on Martin’s pills or summat?

I look at half (or more) of his posts and just think, “What’s the point of that exactly and why do you insist on making yourself look a tw4t in public?”.

Oh dear I seem to have bumped this thread due to him being an arse again and upsetting people.

    How unfortunate.

I shouldn’t fret yourself too much Turbo, they voted in Iran recently but that didn’t work either! 😉

I would have voted BNP (Ban Nothing Please) by the way. 😈
