This is the plug on the right for a Zanussi washing machine. Had a bit of trouble to pull out the washing machine.

Good job the flex was long enough otherwise it will get the snip and charge the customer for a new flex.

You do see some just insanity stupid things, that reminds me of a but in dishwasher a few months back where they had spayed expanding foam around the whole thing, all the pipes everything was buried I it.

The worst I remember was last year , i turned up to an insurance job on a washing machine, it was on a 4 way extension I could not reach to I went to unplug the whole lot, found it in a socket with out a switch and no isolator anywhere , so i went to unplug it and the top of the plug just came off in my hand, the whole screw through the middle was missing, the customers 15 year old son was there watching and just said ” oh yea that’s broke” I told him to go and get he mum and dad for me and I tore them to pieces, they just could not see how this was a real problem.

    Unbelievably

Sometimes it is best not to ask questions. It’s my neighbour’s daughter’s house a mile away from my house and he did the work. So I am avoiding potential conflicts. After all he lives opposite me!

Hey mirmay: WTF is that all about ? How in gods name do these morons think an engineer is going to be able to get that out for repair ?

    I wouldn’t.

If it was in warranty I’d walk. Or charge for the new lead and additional call if needed.

Out of warranty, I’d advise that I could cut the cable and make good, at an appropriate cost of course.

I tend to find that making people realise the cost of their errors prevents repeat performances.

Spot on mate, kitchen fitters can be so dumb at times :rolls:, My PLI sure as hell wouldn’t cover me for pulling that out.

As a rule the four levelling feet have to be raised in order to reach the height of the worktops. Removing the bottom plinth allows access to all four feet. So you have to hope, at least in this crazy situation, there is enough adjustment in order to lower the oven below the overhanging countertops in order to pull it forward sufficient to get round the back! 😉

Not necessarily a “walk away” situation either as worktops can be removed if that’s the only choice. It went in, for Christ sake, so it’s gotta come out! Peace of pi$$ for someone with an ounce of improv skill after all said and done. :rolls:

You must have too much time on your hands if your repaired to wait for them to remove worktops ect,And all your customers will pay for your revisit or sitting drinking tea time 🙂 As NO manufacturer is gonna pay for it.

Re: The silly thing people do with plugs…

Under warranty Martin if it’s not removable for service without additional work or modification or risk of damage to the customer property, you walk.

If the customer wants to pay you to rectify or whatever that’s their call and of course yours if you want to do it. But, that’s a totally separate agreement and contract to the service visit for the manufacturer, that is an arrangement between the customer and service agent.

I’ve seen far too many cock ups to take a chance and if it goes South the customer will blame and claim you for any damage. Manufacturer won’t want to know as they didn’t condone ripping out cables, worktops or whatever else to do a simple repair and, they won’t pay for any additional work unless it was their responsibility. Been there, got the t-shirt.

Got one a few months back for a guy trying to claim ISE for plumbing rectification work to be done for an install by an agent, four years ago! He was after thousands to sort his plumbing and of course hadn’t a hope in hell of it but they do try it on.

All I’m saying is, take care.

Re: The silly thing people do with plugs…

Sorry Martin: I don’t get paid to remove /refit worktops. If I have to get at an Integrated appliance then I’ll do a reasonable amount of dismantling but that won’t include removing units or worktops, if a job needs that then I can take a kitchen fitter with me at the customers request & their expense not mine.
