Usually when I do the door seal, to lubricate it to get it slipped on to the drum would require small amount of washing up liquid but I found that it makes my fingernails very sore so I switched to using water based lubricant similar to KY jelly.

Today, I did not have the lube in the van so I had to pop to the nearest chemist to find the lube. I normally buys them from Superdrug ash you can get a bottle of two for £1.50 and lasts a long time. Now back at the chemist, they only have Durex tingle or strawberry lube. I don’t fancy having tingle fingers so I opted for the strawberry lube which was cheaper.

My customer is wondering why his washing machine smells of strawberry. The things I have to do these day to avoid hurting my fingers!

I was trying to think of something to say that wasn’t smutty so, this’ll have to do…

I wonder what Mrs Jones thinks the appliance engineer is up to walking in with a bottle of Durex lube?

…Scotland Yard continues with its investigation of the case. 😆

My missus knows about the lube in my toolbox. I just peel off the plastic so my customers don’t know what it is.

If you forget to put it in your toolbox and leave it at the customers house you could be adding to the divorce rate. 😀

Or with a bit of luck the customer will ring you for a return visit.

Perhaps Dave could add Durex Tingle to the UKW Shop as a handy accessory for every door boot sale?

So your the reason for premature ejaculation of door seals.

Washing up liquid is aggressive to rubber.

Never in 20 odd yrs have l ever needed to use lubrication, their usually already wet by the time l need to insert my tool.

Next time anybody goes to a seal that is all distorted its likely the last fitter needed help.

Of you can get a zanussi washer dryer seal on with no lubrication at all then I bow to you as a superior engineer

Re: This might make you chuckle…

Although I nearly relented yesterday doing a BEKO WMA seal I can honestly say that I have never, ever used washing up liquid or any other lubricant to replace a door seal and that includes Zanussi washer dryer seals.
At one time the genuine Hotpoint WMA seals came with some sort of lubricant already applied, that made fitting very easy but they no longer seem to use it.
