Zanussi machines are probably the only ones that I do use lubrication on. If it makes it easier then no problem I’ll use it don’t see a problem

Lee8 has managed 20 years without resorting to lubrication. Jim had soldiered on for 40odd years without the need. Poor old Twicknix’s fingers suffer badly without and Andy and I always resort to using Fairy to slip our Zanussi’s on. Whatever next?

On a more serious note, does anyone know exactly what that substance was that used to be applied to new, Hotpoint WMA 1603291 seals?
I would love to get hold of some of that, far less messy than the above alternatives.

Caravan awning PTFE lube spray seems to do the trick if all else fails but you need to use latex gloves for this otherwise your hands will feel oily all day (I have not tried the new Hotpoint models yet), unsure how it would affect the clothing, I would imagine it would washes off with detergent. It washes off on the caravan awning in the rain.
The Hoover seems to come ready oiled, Hotpoint is very rubbery requires lube especially pattern parts and so does Beko, Bosch, Siemens and Zanussi.

I bet Twiknix wished he’d kept quiet! 😆
But, fair play for being a good sport.

I don’t mind and it was a good laugh though. I hope I kept it clean and “family” friendly.January 16, 2014 at 7:11 pm #407735iadom

You need to do some wrist and finger strengthening exercises. 😉

There was one trade member who’s name escapes me now who admitted to removing the complete drum assy to refit Zanussi W/D seals. :eeek:

Have never needed to use any lube when fitting door seals. However if you are going to use it then the ” intimate” lubes are the best to use as they are by their very nature safe to use on latex and rubber products.
Do keep a tube of KY in hand to use on O rings
Just dont be tempted to reach for the Vaseline 😉January 16, 2014 at 8:28 pm #407740lee8

Superior no. I managed to snap the bolt/ shaft off an indesit washing machine element today, strong fingers, thanks to hangin around and some ninja tricks.

Trying to think if this was me or not? Let me think….I have done some crazy challenges but not that crazy to remove the drum assembly for the stake of door seal so I shall discount that it was not me.
