Hi Ken
I’m pretty sure that the last draft as appears in this thread is the final draft so if you want to copy and paste into a word document we are happy for you to do just that.

regards the presentation.
I have 2 versions, 1 by Del which is hell of a long, and one abridged by Ken.
I have taken the Del one and treaked it a little bit, and taken out the whole of the Charter content. I have also put a bit of Kens work into this version, and IMO it looks good.
With the Ken Version, I’ve dotted a few tees etc, and removed a duplicate that was a contradiction.
Tomorrow, or maybe tonight if I get time, I will send all of you my copy of each version, have a look and tell me which one you prefer me to use.
Been a silly day today as the little tow rag that was handling my spares dept failed to show, got another job and decided not to work out his months notice. He’s in far an expensive surprise soon.

One of the delegates at the Sibson meeting pointed out he was unable to find mention of electrical safety testing on completion of work. He highlighted to me paragraph 5 of section 4 and felt that was the best place to address this point.
5. After repairs the appliance is checked for function (specification test) and that it is in a safe condition for the customer to use
I must admit, it slipped past me.
Can we add onto the download version, and all subsequent print of requests a supplement to cover this. Maybe as follows….
5. After repairs the appliance is checked for function (specification test) and that it is in a safe condition for the customer to use. In addition all electrical safety tests to be carried out and results to be documented. Any failure regards electrical safety to be fully investigated and remedial action to be taken place on the product if applicable. Any failure due to the installation should be pointed out to the end user, notes made and all paperwork to be endorsed accordingly. If necessary, the circuit to be isolated and notice issued to that effect.September 25, 2005 at 3:29 pm #141036kwatt
KeymasterThat’s pretty good Alex, uses still more words than me to say, “if we think it needs testing we will, if not we won’t bother.” ๐

Alex,
Look back at page 2, I also thought electrical safety testing should be in the charter but it was never put in the final document.

Assume you mean this?
2. All Members should adhere to current Health & Safety requirements as stipulated in law.
The above is tucked in section 4 but I don’t think it is embracing enough. The fact someone found a slight omission within 5 minutes of my presentation, highlights the need perhaps.

What I said is copied below
johnmac11 wrote:5. After repairs the appliance is checked for function (specification test) and that it is in a safe condition for the customer to use
Should this not say โAfter repairs the engineer should carry out safety and function checks on all appliancesโJohn
As I have said before if a member doesnt have or know how to use an insulation tester then they should not be included in repairs@ or the directories IMO

I take it you have a devious plan regarding this Ken???Has anyone from espares got a UKW username? if so suspend them till at least they credit UKW as being authors of “their” charter.

KeymasterYeah, they have a login but it’s unused.
I’m still thinking about it but I’m sure it’s filtered back by now to eyes I wanted to see it. ๐

News:
“The Whitegoods Trade Association is pleased to note the adoption of its Charter by a commercial enterprise for the first time.
Internet spares supplier http://www.espares.co.uk is asking its own repairers to sign the Charter to ensure the quality of service expected by the Whitegoods Trade Association.
Whilst the Whitegoods Trade Association is disappointed that espares have not chosen to acknowledge the source of the Charter, it is pleased that the pursuit of excellence required by the WTA is being accepted by sections of the industry.

As things stand, we can prove entirely that we wrote the Charter and implemented it. We currently have them dead bang to rights……. I see no reason not to exploit the opportunity for our own gain.
Congratulating them for being naughty leaves them nowhere to go. ๐
