Won’t be long now. I’m planning for a preparatory bath on Thurs morning.

I’d just like to thank Bryan, Ian, Lawrence and their lovely wives for all the hard work they put in to make the meeting the success and good fun that it was. The venue was great as well. Looking forward to a return visit 😀 .
Perhaps next time Tina might even get to see what happens in a men’s toilet……. 😯

Hi All
Could I take it then that the same hotel would be acceptable for september meeting.
Hopefully More of the wives will come and use the hotel facilities.
If we could confirm the numbers earlier I could arrange special menu options.

The hotel reminded me of the one we had at the NEC, there is probably more atmosphere in a morgue, I for one would vote for a change of venue.

I take it by that your volunteering to make all the arrangements then for the next meeting.

I posted an opinion Bryan and I do not recall saying that I would organise the next one.

I thought it was okay as a venue TBH.
We’re just used to the Millers but, again TBH, we’ve outgrown the Millers. There’s not enough space there for us now so we need an alternative and I suspect that this is as good as any. Unless anyone has any suggestions?
It’s become obvious that we need a venue that has a meeting room capable of holding 100 people at least. The Millers can’t do that.
Asides from that we did have more than a few rooms booked besides the meeting room size hurdle.
I’d say it was better than the one in Brum.
So, when are we doing the September one then? 😉

JohnDont agree, think the Hilton bar was ok. and enough space in the rooms to swing a cat…must remember to bring one next time.
Agree the Holiday inn express was dire though.February 24, 2009 at 8:22 am #264903Dales-Electronic

Interesting remark John, but as alway why is it that those that do bugger all are always ready to have a pop.
I for one would like to thank Bryan and Tina for sorting this venue out. If there was any problems in my opinion they weren’t to do with the venue. The major one that was indicated by my guests was the ignorant sods that talked through the presentations !!February 24, 2009 at 8:29 am #264904johnmac11

No pop intended, Bryan asked

And all I did was voice an opinion, I should have kept my mouth shut.

The Millers may have had marginally more atmosphere than the Hilton, [only marginally mind], but apart from the size issue you have to stand in the middle of the car park to get a mobile signal. In this day and age that alone should count it out.
I thought the Hilton was ideal. The location couldn’t be bettered for most people and the food was superb and plentiful, although interestingly not quite as good on the Saturday night. The room and facilities [ie swimming pool] excellent, and the price deal that Bryan negotiated was very reasonable. I wouldn’t even be tempted to stay in a B&B 😯 so it must have been good 😆 .As for the date of the next meeting, from a purely personal point of view if September 18th could be avoided it would suit me.

Once you go above a certain size you almost always come down to the larger, more impersonal venues.
I though it was far better than the NEC, better access, decent food, pleasant staff, good sized bedrooms , good conference facilities, oh and a decent gym. 8)

Yes, I forgot to mention the staff; they were very nice and helpful. I actually left them a tip. Can’t think what’s come over me. 😯
