ParticipantMy internet security system (Norton) has just let me down big time & totally crashed my laptop.
Cost me a few quid to get it cleaned & have a new internet security system put on.
I now run AVG internet security which has cost me £45 for two years.
It finds a new virus/trojan every time I use the internet which worries me somewhat.
Am I getting paranoid or is this what you get for signing up for broadband? What system do you guys use?
Any comments welcome.
Steve

Norton 2007, better than 2006. That was crap.
Never had it crash though. 😕
Make sure it is up to date, force it yourself as it forgets sometimes, then you wont be covered bt new viruses etc

I have always used Command Anti virus from Authentium, ever since it came pre installed on a DAN computer over 9 years ago.
Never had an infection of any kind. Very simple interface, auto updates up to three or four times each day and e-mails you very time it updates as well. Scores highly in V Bulletin 100 tests.
Also use Zone Alarm Pro, Spywareblaster, Mailwasher Pro, Spybot Search & Destroy, Windows Defender and keeping a watchful eye over all of that is the all seeing Prevx 1.
Norton is pants.

Zonealarm do have some issues with the security and their firewall is not the strongest either.
I would prefer Mcafee over Norton, it is much better and secure
The other software I use is Systemsuite. That is good as well

Our system (3 computers) uses Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer – we have Norton and AVG, Adaware and Spybot; all of which are used regularly to search for viruses and spyware. On Internet Explorer, we had problems on virtually every scan. Since we changed to Mozilla Firefox we have not had an attack above ‘negligible’. Internet Explorer is a magnet for problems. 👿

I use NOD32 for antivirus, cost about £30 to buy then £15 per year, they all offer a months free trial so I spent half a year doing my own tests and settled on NOD32. I’ve also tried Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, AVG, Avast, Computer Associates and F-Prot. Kaspersky is good but it kept crashing, AVG is the best free one, Norton and McAfee both hog memory and slow the computer down.
Agnitum Outpost is a great Personal Firewall which includes spyware protection, it costs £10 per year to keep it current which again is nothing for the piece of mind of knowing your protected.

I use a hardware firewall and avg
But best method to stop spyware is DON’T DOWNLOAD PORN 😆
only joking norton in my opinion is like using a sledgehammer to crack a wallnut.
and it blocks half the stuff you want it to access most of the time.
