KeymasterYesterday I updated this with home service stuff:
https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/appliance-industry-news/4412-delivery-difficulties
Basically, listening to Micheal Gove on R4 this morning that’s the is the case more or less as set out there. Not exhaustive but a general guide and common sense will apply.

I ask customers to leave hand soap and kitchen role by an empty sink so I can wash my hands when I enter. I ask that they distance themselves from me as much as possible. I use sanitising gel before I enter and when I leave. I wipe own surfaces that I may have touched while in the property before leaving and advise the customer to do the same when I have left.
Ray.t, I’d be interested to know what guidelines Whirlpool or other companies are giving their engineers?
good to clean down before you start on appliances as well

Man! Some houses I have to wipe my feet on the way out. The ones where you cant even set your toolbox down because literally every single inch of space is covered with some nasty shit that should either be washed or thrown away.
And Friday I get to the house and they are fresh out of the shower, leaviung the doors all open so it’s like a sauna in th ekitchen (bungalow). Then they want to stand over you and explain what I should do…
Sorry, I’m ranting. But, are we allowed to just say no to those places – or will be liable for some sort of 1984 cleanlinessism charge?
😀

KeymasterYour call.
If you think it’s unsafe, not clean and they don’t distance, then walk if that’s what you deem should happen. It’s a judgement call on your part as only you can assess it and any potential risk to the idiots you’re visiting and yourself.

ParticipantCalled at customer today wearing gloves and mask. Customer comes to door wearing gloves and mask. Paid cash and I sanitised the money. I have 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} alcohol spray sanitiser. Can’t be too careful but on reflection I think it is time to call a halt.

ParticipantUpdated Government advice issued overnight… this would apply to us;
“Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople carrying out repairs and maintenance, can continue, provided that the tradesperson is well and has no symptoms. Again, it will be important to ensure that Public Health England guidelines, including maintaining a two metre distance from any household occupants, are followed to ensure everyone’s safety.
No work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where an individual is being shielded, unless it is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household, such as emergency plumbing or repairs, and where the tradesperson is willing to do so. In such cases, Public Health England can provide advice to tradespeople and households.
No work should be carried out by a tradesperson who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild.”

ParticipantThe work seems to have completely dried up today. Ive had just 2 calls all day so far come through. Luckily im full today but i’ve got nothing for tomorrow.
Its all well and good the government saying that we can still work but if people dont want to call us and have us in their houses, then we may as well be closed.March 25, 2020 at 1:46 pm #467319electrofix
Moderatorcan understand that, I am the same but look on the bright side you cant catch this if you stay in
I know its going to be hard but if your one of those people who react badly to this you could end up dead
And I for one would rather be in debt than dead

ParticipantStrange times indeed. At the moment still working at a very reduced rate. I would hope some kind of a better welfare payment for the self employed in Uk will be introduced. Based in Rep of Ireland and a welfare payment of 350euro per week been given to people drastically affected by the virus. Going to have a look at online form tonight.
