ParticipantI’ve got a Whirlpool AWG5122 which has a problem in that the water is not switching off during the various cycles. Been flooded once already.
Also the middle two lights are flashing.
I have to switch off the water at the stop cock to avoid flooding, so have to be there during the whole cycle.
With the excess water in the drum, the motor is struggling to turn the machine.
I have lost the manual and can’t find one online, so am stumped at how to fix the problem.

Hi PeterBill
I can point you in the direction of the manual you require 😉 download available here on the Whirlpool website.
I’m sure one of the experts will be able to point you in the right direction regarding the fault.
HTH 🙂

If you switch off the power when the machine is overfilling does it stop filling?
If the only way you can stop it overfilling is by turning the tap off then the you have a faulty fill valve.
Is it hot & cold or cold fill only?

Are you entering your model number or the 12NC or SERVICE number from the rating plate?

I’ve tried all the 12 NC for that model iadom and like PB all I can get is wine cooler 😕 but I have a little trick I can try 😉
Don
Edit: I tried my little trick of reducing the 12 number code right back to 8537, there are a few you could try, they may have the same layout as yours.

I put the model number in the commercial code box and got this result.
(12NC) 853722915001 (Commercial Code) AWG 5122
Which downloads the Wine Chiller.
Should I use a different number?

I have not tried switching off the power during the fill cycle.
It’s cold fill only.

NB. The manual you can download or the one you have lost is only a user manual. It does not tell you how to ‘fix’ this problem. 😉
If it only has a single hose then it only has one fill valve, not that difficult to change if required.

Thought this thread rang a bell looks like the problem still exists then.

Did give them a ring on the number quoted and they will be sending a manual … but as iadom says it is probably a user manual.
What does the two center lights flashing mean ?Is that a coded signal ?

I am not au fait with all Whirlpool codes however an educated guess would be overfilling. 😉
If you switch the machine on, set it to fill and then turn it off after a couple of minutes it should stop filling instantly.
If the water continues to flow when switched off the valve is faulty.
If it does stop instantly then there likely to be a fault in the pressure switch/hose/chamber area.

Tried another wash … switched off the power and it carried on filling. It makes a horrible sound and starts draining … keeps filling from compartment 2 … have to control the water at the stop cock.
Will see if I’m able to remove the valve and replace it. Will the generic one (advertised here at about £5) be OK ?

Its unlikely that a universal valve will fit. Unless anyone else can be more specific I will try and find out for you.
The wiring connections and the angle of the valves is often different on the Whirlpool machines.
EDIT.
For some reason I cannot find any reference to an AWG5122 on the SIOS disc.
The 12NC number also draws a blank. 😥
Is this machine a top loader or a front loader?
