Machine will do nothing other than lock the door on any programme, the mains On/Off neon does not illuminate. Motor brushes etc appear fine. No visible signs of damage on control unit.
Any pointers, cannot see any test procedures on SIOS disc. ?

Broken wiring harness adjacent to air chamber? Heater open circuit? Motor continuity? Are the most likely reasons as the programme module self checks all these before proceeding. 😉

Did check the motor, will have a look at those other items,
Is it normal for the mains neon not to light up though?

Checked out every single component, changed the door lock just in case, still the same, door locks then nothing. 😕
Thinking control unit now. Unless you know different. 😉

The mains neon return is via the circuit board so perhaps the board is the guilty party? 😕
Maybe JohnMac11 can confirm? 😉

Only just got back to this one, waiting for new control unit.
The control unit is faulty, however although the mains neon now comes on and door locks it still does nothing else. After stripping down the old unit I am hoping that I have not damaged the new one. 😥
The old unit has blown, any ideas as to what may have caused this, door lock and fill valves appear to be connected in that area, no signs of any earth failure.

Can’t figure from the photo Jim but do you know want terminals are connected adjacent to the blown circuit? We could then run through the wiring diagram to locate the fault, maybe?

Difficult to say Martin, looks like pilot lamp & fill valves. 😕
Terminal numbers, VHF31,PL33, PL31 etc.

The mains switch (on/off sw) is double pole (I think?) so I wonder if it’s a polarity short? The SIOS wiring diagram is rubbish at best, so can’t fathom owt from that…..I’m just guessing otherwise Jim, sorry! 😕

Cant see which connector on the timer is blown. If it is the connections towards the back of the appliance it is either the mains switch, pressostat or heater/NTC.
Usualy when I come across a timer with a blown edge connector the cause is either the door lock, on/off switch or the NTC.
In the case of a blown NTC make sure you remove it from machine and check visualy, have saw some that come back with a resistance reading that is fine but a soon as water is put in machine it will blow the timer again, caused by drum dropping onto heater and slicing a nice hole through the NTC.

No edge connectors actually damaged John, just a couple of tracks on the back of the board, one wire link( RD 11) and one resistor ( R5) plus a small triac/transistor( TC2) blown on component side. The machine is in perfect physical condition, could the drum still catch the heater?

On all the ones I have saw that have blown tracks I would say that in 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of cases the fault was caused by either the heater/NTC or the door lock.
I have saw machines where the drum is fine but a coin has spun round with the drum and cut through the ntc (very thin metal). If the heater is cut through then the drum will more than likely have dropped onto it.
