Just had a customer on the phone with a Whirlpool 3RAWZ480E heavy duty dryer.

Around 13 months old, apparently sets control knob to programme, pushes start button but nothing happens.

Going tomorrow, not seen one of these before, any known causes of this fault or is just a case of suck it and see?

    Hi

Try this site for drawings of US models “www.appliancepartspros.com” just type in model no . Part numbers are not the same as UK numbers and numbers on drawings are different but the descriptions are Ok. And you can print off drawings which can be helpfull.

There are stats and a thermal fuse on ducting at the rear of machine that will stop it.

    Hi

I think there is a cut out on the fan duct at the front which goes and can cause this problem, bit of a pain to get to.

    cheers

Jim, called before xmas to one installed in a beauty palour, running most of the day, it also went dead, but reset after some time, (I was told on this site) that the machine isn’t designed for this extream use, possibe motor cutting out as fitted with internal toc.
This may not apply to your job, but hope this helps.

If the belt is broken there is a micro switch on the jockey pulley arm, which will stop it working. I have also replaced a few door switches.

    Hi Jim,

If you go on SIOS and want to search for this model remove the 3R at the start of the model number, and it will come up.

if this is the machine i think it is there is a 6.3a fuse hidden in the wiring harness

open top of machine remove metal plate left hand side where wiring runs

about half way back in the bundle of wires there is an inline fuse holder with a 20 mm anti surge fuse (use microwave fuse) they go all the time mate just bought one of ebay for £70 replaced fuse now ok

    hope this helps

Thanks to all. I do have a couple of fast blow fuses from the days of the Hotpoint Microprofile.

Machine is on a farm but I don’t think they are farmers, now they do know how to hammer machines. :rolls:

take a small socket set with you. I fitted stats to one of these and found the fixing bolts to be an odd size.

Think you will find 2ba and 4ba sockets on these most helpful.

    Hi Jimbo

Check the thermal fuse on the internal vent, not sure of this model no. but it should have a lower front panel that will unclip (2 spring clips on its top edge, small screw driver should do it)
Thermal fuse should be front center on top of duct, bypass it and see if she starts 😉

They have used two types that I know of one is round the other rectangular
    Connect no.s
    5031683049586 or 5031681018133 🙂

    And the

    goes to Dave. 😀

Spot on, twas the small fuse. 8)

    Now for your bonus question.
Customer also has a big Whirlpool top loader, 3RLSQ8000.
She says that recently it has been leaving detergent on the clothes at the end of a wash.
I advised reducing detergent, possibly trying a liquid or a different detergent.
Are there any known faults on this machine that can lead to this problem?

    Jim.
