    Re: Why is it….

My problem is I’m lazy about chasing the money owed, suppose thats what these fare dodgers rely on 😡
The girl i posted about above still owes me £25, if it was a bigger amount I’d have probably made more effort.

Premier Electrics have been playing that trick card for years. 😈

surely only idiots beleive it, i have a 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} discount card for getting my car serviced. every time i produce it the garage say we have already taken the 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off.

what if we all put £10 off with this ad!

also i had to accept a cheque dated for the end of august today, better than nothing.
i used to go back to peoples doors when they owed me money, sooner or later there was going to be a punch up.

    Re: Why is it….

I’m sorry to read that still in this day and age many of you have to carry out YOUR own business purely on YOUR CUSTOMERS TERMS. :rolls:

Accepting post dated cheques, promises to pay ‘next week’, only got £20 now will send the rest when my GIRO comes in etc etc etc…..The excuses they give are never ending, some most original. We’ve all come across them from time to time and it won’t have escaped you that, ALWAYS the excuses manifest themselves just after you’ve completed the work for them, funny that eh? :rolls:

They know the rules at Tesco, know that they have to pay for the goods before leaving. Not even Mr Patel in the corner shop these days will sell them fags on the tick so they know to hand over the cash before asking. However when you are stood in their house, they call the terms of payment, put on the sob stories or act so innocently when lying about sending the money round to you the next day.

Some of you poor souls work in area’s of high unemployment and poor housing and are desperate to get the work. So it’s easy to see how you get roped into accepting these so called promises. They too are just as desperate to get their machines fixed but their intention to pay is far less honourable and they will rob you blind soon as look you straight in the eye my friend.:(

Therefore, it is essential you tell them on the phone your charges, your terms before calling. When you get there and before you start work, remind them of your charges you told them on the phone earlier. Then politely ask how would they like to pay?

And please, do yourselves a favour…..don’t accept cheques, especially post-dated ones. So best tell them that on the phone too before you call as well. 😉

    Re: Why is it….

Why is it that customers are prepared to waste good money buying spares they don’t need, yet baulk at paying an engineer a call out charge to inspect the m/c.
Had a guy yesterday buy a belt for his servis with no drum action only to come back later asking for carbons, when i suggested the old brush sample he brought in still had some life in it and “maybe it would be better if i take a look at the m/c” he bought the brushes anyway ???

Ah! Remember you’ve already been bitten before though by a young lady and her Beko.:lesson:

So far better you spend all day behind the counter flogging belts and brushes to folks that don’t need them rather than calling out to them and getting stitched up. 😉
