It is graphic design you are studying at uni and not economics isn’t it Adam, 😉

The parts actually cost the Indesit Company peanuts, but they will charge you a fraction under £90.00 to fit them, QED. They will also try and talk ( con ) you into paying £149.00 for the repair which will also include a further 12 months complete parts and labour cover, but your parts are already covered so the are trying to charge you an extra £50.00 to cover the possible expense of a £90.00 call out in the next 12 months. Unfortunately this will cost you another £75.00 next year to renew.

As it was raining (I am self employed trying to work outside!) today I spent 3 hours re-plumbing all the copper piping so that the Miele had a more comfortable fit in our conservatory/utility….it does look very nice.

Can’t tell you how it performs just yet as my wife done her favourite trick of doing a load while I was out for a few hours tonight and then leaving it in the machine until the morining ready to hang out!!

I will report back in a couple of days…..should have done a few washes by then 😕

I wish you all the very best with it, I see there are one or two posts/threads where there are some restless Miele Naitives, but as they say one swallow doesn’t make a summer. Either way there is good and bad with all makes of things these days. – I adore my machine, & I dread to think of the alternative (which would have been a Beko had my Appliance Cover Plan Lot had their way)

Now maybe I can persuade Mr WQ to buy me a built in Miele Coffee maker now that he has finaly pulled the moths from his wallet and decided to re-do our kitchen. There again knowing him, his idea of a coffee maker is me with a giant jar of Nescafe……One lump of sugar or two?….Men! 😀

DONT DO IT! VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!!! And i hear that they had more then a few problems with them i don’t know if they sorted them out but they did have problems! Plus are they not all intergrated? So if they do go faulty you either have to get a new one or try to find something to fill the odd shaped hole. And some models only take certain types of capsules which you had to buy from them!! But it’s your decision its just something to think about 😉

Thanks for the advice. I was kind of half joking about the coffee maker, but as we are in the process of drawing up plans to re-do the kitchen, and as much as I hate the idea of “built in” things, we have agreed that we will look at some built in gadgetry stuff. – WQ

Re: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!

We were going to get one of those for our new kitchen, AEG’s version though. They are expenisve, which is why we changed our mind and we are now going to buy a Gaggia Cubika from argos when its done.
Does anyone know if the older versions of the AEG FAV86070Vi fully integerated dishwasher has one of the Miele rip off cutlery trays in the upper basket, if ours does, can it be removed?

The cutlery trays are unique to Miele AFAIK Adam.

Re: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!

I know that don, but the AEG ones have like a little tray in the top basket, not a actual slide out element like the Miele ones. I’m just wondering whether it has one thats all.
You’ll see it here http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/prod … -position1 and i think the tray is the grey thing at the top right hand corner, not sure If mine has it, because it its an older model, can anyone enlighten me please?

Looks like something of nothing if you ask me. I would`nt think you would get much on it and it would also impede any tall item in the top basket too.

Re: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!

    It’s a knife rack.

The idea is that you get the knives gently cleaned as many of them are not that dishwasher friendly, especially good cooking knives whilst the cutlery gets the main blast of the spray below.

It also is a child safety feature, no big sharp knives to skewer some poor kid on to be blunt about it.

Usually they can be removed if you don’t need them and for when you want to put long-stemmed wine glasses etc. in there.

    Pros:

      Safety
      Better for good quality knives
Allows for more usable space in the dishwasher unlike the Miele drawer thing
Can be removed to allow the full internal height to be used

    Cons:

Fitting in all glasses when you want knives in there

I know this because I’ve come across them before and the upcoming ISE10 dishwasher uses one, it’s fitted to the one I have in the house but we’ll gloss over that as I’m not supposed to have one and, all I’ll say is that it works well enough. 😉

I meant to say Don, isn’t it nice to see that Comet are as knowledgeable about the products they sell on their website as they are in-store. :snigger:

Re: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!

According to the Aeg pdf instructions, it says it is a cutlery tray for standard sized cutlery, the basket for odd cutlery in the bottom. It sounds a good idea, but IMO it looks like AEG wanted to rip-off Miele.

Why on Earth would you want to put cutlery up there?

Seems a bit daft to me, but heh, what do I know.
