exactly most people will surely cross reference spares, it just goes to show though that they cant really give a t*ss about your custom if they are blatantly trying to disguise prices

A lot seem not to as they don’t think that the differences will be that big.
Well, I’ve been ordering a few parts of late again after a few years of not actually doing it myself…
One part from two suppliers, both with direct accounts to the same manufacturer had a £60 difference on a motor.
On about a dozen other parts I saved well over £150 just by doing a simple comparison on prices. Both had all the parts in stock for same day or next day dispatch. Several of these were parts that cost under a tenner from one yet double that from another.
I can live with the extra fiver carriage if required for those sort of savings thank you very much for the ten minutes at most it took to compare.
I would say that it was fair enough if there was a difference on service levels or whatever but, as we all know, virtually all spares are non-returnable and get to you n 48 hours as a general rule. There was no difference on the parts, all were gen lines
It really does pay to shop about.

Presumably, anyone who re-orders that seal to replenish van stock without checking the alternatives. It does not seem that long since Hotpoint door seals were about £2.95.

just to redress the balance a little
c00143206 from masterpart £33 from connect £19.15
so as has been said already you have to check pricesOctober 30, 2008 at 7:23 pm #264603hotpnt

there seems to be no rule for the prices, the door seal to me at connect was the most expensive here at £10.38 for 2+ or £14 for 1, but the module is cheaper than petalpop’s at £18.30

Its their pattern parts scam that really annoys me. They are forever sending me pattern parts dressed up as genuine in their cheap plastic bags with their tacky self printed genuine part labels.
This must be illegal and I am surprised the manufacturers let them get away with it.
Example- Prt No 1240825008.I have ordered this part twice over the last year both times it came with their fake sticker with the genuine part No on it. This Zanussi condenser double valve is physically different from a genuine valve that you would receive from Distri Part and is difficult to fit.
I have complained to my Rep many times over the years ( who I must say is very helpful) but all he says is the part must have been put in the wrong bin. Lets face it, there is not much he can do as they are making a fortune out of this conn.

I’ve received ???Genuine??? parts like this before and wondered if they were genuine! I couldn’t tell that it wasn’t genuine so gave them the benefit of the doubt.
I’ll keep an eye this in the future.

If parts turn up not sealed in a packet or a box with the manufacturers logo or official sticker/part number on it then it must be assumed a pattern part.
Even if Connect were to use the excuse we take them out the packet as they are easier to store then in my opinion they are no longer genuine parts and come with no quality control assurance.
Some pattern parts are fine but when we request a genuine part and pay the genuine part price this is what we should recieve.

I’m with Graham on this one.
I face a dilemma when I buy a genuine part and it doesn’t arrive in genuine packaging as one of our key selling points is that we fit genuine parts only.
If I receive a part in non-genuine packaging, I’ll give the supplier the benefit of the doubt and use it, but only if I’m sure it’s identical to the genuine part. However, I’ll make sure not to use that supplier again for that part. If it’s not identical to the genuine item, I ask for, and generally get, a full refund.
Most problems have been with belts, heaters and door seals. And for Servis, unwrapped seems to be the norm.
All the major suppliers I deal with seem guilty of blurring the distinction between genuine and non-genuine to some extent – in no particular order Connect, Masterpart, Nedis, Parts Center and Qualtex.
Is this an issue for anyone else?
