    I think that the capacitor on my machine has just gone. There was a loud bang and a gunpowder like smell. The machine seems to operate normally and nothing seems out of the ordinary on inspection of the innards except that the top of the capacitor case is cracked.

    If you don’t mind, I have two questions main questions (and two for Russell if he is still around).
    Do you think that it is the capacitor that has gone? I’m used to finding black residue when capacitors go bang and there isn’t any.
    If it is the capacitor, what would cause it to blow? Might the motor/pump be faulty?

    Russell, have you had any problems since you replaced your capacitor? Was it easy to order from UK White Goods and how much was it?
