    As mentioned by another poster, I experienced the same problems with my A1436; it would not start, I’d press the start button and the door lock light would not come back on and it wouldn’t do anything.

    In the interest of helping others with similar problems I’ll explain how I solved this problem. Firstly I thought it was the door interlock, so I fitted a new one.

    This did not make any difference, so I scoured the internet for answers and many people were suggesting a malfunctioning PCB board. I priced this up and decided to ring Ariston / Indesit for a repair as it was cheaper than purchasing the board myself.

    The engineer attached his diagnostic device to the machine and told me it was the brushes – four screws to access brushes underneath the machine which he had tilted securely backwards – under 20 mins and it was fixed.

    The PCB was absolutely “A” OK.
