I’m not sure to be honest it was I think a red wire?

We were thinking along same lines as you with it being the control unit. Just wondering if there is an internal fuse that can be changed to rectify this or if its a case of getting a replacement control unit. In which case is this simple enough fix or would I need a neff engineer?
