ParticipantRe: cheapest place to buy a bosch smv63m00
Hi
using pricerunner.co.uk comes up with two etailers at £540 delivered see
deals 4u.co uk http://www.deals4u.co.uk/product.asp?id=4629
and electric shop http://www.electricshop.com/invt/smv63m … SMV63M00GB
the web search claims both have stock with deals 4 you shipping direct from Bosch to customer.
I have no experiance or association with the above two companies.
Cheers

Yes,
18 months ago, I removed the whole motor from the machine.
I re-fitted the cable tie as per originally along with the clear plastic moisture shield thingy.
Now of course, it could have been that the first brush change was sufficent to disturb the wiring inside the multiplug connector.
So its just a cuationary tale, in my case, this multiplug and wiring is not as robust as it could be.
The whole design of the motor wiring, from controller to motor, doesn’t make it easy for fault diagnosis, as you can’t get a probe from the meter anywhere close to a terminal, but i suppose, its all designed for ease of assembly in the factory and not subsequent fault finding.
My machine has now completed 3 washes, so i think i’m fixed

Hi Beta,
Thanks, for your words of wisdom.
I was convinced that the brushes were fitted correctly, and that proved to be the case, as a last ditch go at the “B*****d” tonight revealed the true problem.
When i disconnected the 6 pin plug from the motor prior to removal of the motor to check the brushes, which as i mentioned earlier were not worn out, i felt that the two half of the multiplug were loose, however, i ignored this fact until this evening.
I was annoyed that i couldn’t easily get the multimeter probes on terminals, without getting under the machine to measure voltage at the motor, and the controller end is nearly impossible as well, so i had decided to wire some male spades to connect directly to the multiplug with some long leads into a terminal block to pass outside under the machine in lieu of the motor.
anyway closer inspection revealed with a slight tug on pin 4 wire it came away from the multiplug all together.so basically i suspect from the start of my woes, it was a poor connection and not the brushes
Anyway, having pulled the multiplug apart, it reveals what a poor piece of design this item is, it looks to me as there is a real chance in manufacture for the internal prongs of one half of the multiplug not to pierce the outer insulation of any of the six wires sufficiently to guarantee a decent contact and over time as in my case not to make contact at all.
Incidentally, there was no burning or scorching on the internals of the multiplug, if i knew how to post a photo on here, i could show everyone on here what the inside of this multiplug looks like.
I’ve now done away with the multiplug and replaced with insulated spade crimps, and my machine is now doing its first wash as we speak.
I wonder how many other similar machines have been binned, i was very close myself, with suspected motor and or controller faults and the problem may have been in the multiplug connector
I would like to say, prior to the the brushes 18 month ago and since this machine has been faultless, with no maintenace at all, other than monthly cleaning 90C washes with Washing soda.
Has anyone else out there had a similar experiance with the motor multiplug on Bosch washers ?.
Cheers
Andy
Edit. its completed wash no 1, and now on to this weeks whites, wish me luck

Hi all,
I read this topic on Tuesday, and my machines symptoms were identical.
I immediately ordered a set of Brushes off here and some other bits for another job, which have arrived safely packaged today.
My problem is now also solved and the washer is well on its way to completing its first load.
I addition to the advice given above i’d like to add, that this machine is heavy and not too easy to balance against the wall on your own, also the motor is quite heavy to lower on one hand from under the machine.
I also removed the back belt inspection cover, a torx screwdriver or bit is required here and you need to remove the belt as will make the motor removal easier, the belt its a fine grooved belt with fixed tensioning.
There are only two 6mm (10mm socket) course machine screws to remove to free the motor along with a ty wrap which holds a water shield over the wiring connector. The motor was a bit reluctant to slide forward but a quick tap with a screwdriver and hammer had it sliding forward.
Fitting the new brushes is simple enough, i used some long nosed pliers and a screwdriver to cope with the brass tabs that hold the connectors in place, care needs to be taken as these i don’t think these will cope with rough handling.
I also used some cotton buds with some electrical contact cleaner to clean off the carbon residue from around the brush pocket and also off the commutator.
i had about 5mm and 6mm on each old brush with the end of the copper braded cable just starting to show through on one.
refitting is a reversal off the above process however the motor is a bit tricky to line up the 4 spigots before sliding back into place and re-fitting the two 6mm screws
This Bosch washing machine has been the best machine we’ve had, it gets used everyday we are at home and this is the first fault we have had in over 5 and 1/2 years of ownership
I’d just like to say that this is a great site, and the valued contributions from Pro’s and amateurs like me have just saved me a fortune.
Thanks
Andy
