I’ve given up and replaced it, the old one is sat outside waiting for me to take it down the tip!

Well the repairman cometh and I think it’s dead – well, beyond hope anyway. It’s not the element, it is the electrics/PCB. His fault finding has revealed a couple of possibilities but the root cause seems to me to be that it’s a crap machine!
Whilst electrics can be replaced the cause of their demise could well be deeper in the machine. Seems the pump is pulsing and that could indicate that it’s not working as well as it should – could this lead to poor circulation around the element and in turn lead to the element drawing more current through the PCB ultimately causing premature failure.
The repairman has gone away to price the bits and will come back to me but I think a new machine is in order – he hasn’t charged me for the call out and seemed very genuine – he wasn’t trying to sell me a new machine although I know he does supply machines.
We are now looking at Servis machines that are currently being sold with a 5 year parts warranty. Any recomendations for a good quality, basic, silver/aluminium finish, free standing dishwasher with some sort of warranty that means it won’t fall over within a couple of years?

One for the moderators – I used the search facility on this site to find a repairer, it came up with two options, one of which was Enterprise Domestic Appliance Services which appeared very local, so I called him. Nice chap, doesn’t do Zanussi so not much point in returning him as a search result 🙁
However, the other result, RDS are coming out next week 😆

I’ll report back how I get on and what the problem / solution is.

Thanks for that, I was hoping it was going to be one of those “Ah that’s a 5 minute repair job and all you need is a screwdriver” jobs. Never mind, looks like the local engineers are all off over Christmas so I’m going to be ringing around to find someone who hasn’t earnt enough to clock off just yet 🙂

My dishwasher has just stopped heating too, same make and model as yours. Did you have any luck tracing and fixing the fault?
