Re: Whirlpool American fridge freezer power problem trips RC

    Thanks for the replies.

Engineer diagnosed last week as defrost heater. It was going to earth when it switched on and tripping RCD. I got round the problem while waiting for part by putting on timer and switching off the machine for 15 mins every 4 hours.

Will update if this has cured the problem.

One other piece of advice from engineer was to vacuum under bottom panel regularly. because this avoids a build up of fluff that prevents cooling of the electronics – leading to failure there.

Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

I have had a Whirlpool S25B since 2003. Have replaced boards in 2004 and then in 2008 for reasons most of you have suffered. Fortunatley this was the first time I took out extended guarantee.

Now I have intermittent power failures. My thoughts are that fridge freezer is tripping RCD. Have changed all 9 caps using kit from this site. Seems to happen less frequently. Now happens about once every 24 hours.

I have searched most posts, but cannot see any link. Hope someone can advise.

    Thanks
