Re: Hotpoint WMA32 stops mid cycle

    Hi there

    Fingers crossed, problem solved..

First the original pump was faulty, it didnt was to start up all the time due to it being worn out, thus the machine would not go into its rinse and spin cycle because there was still water in the drum.

Later inspection revieled that the inner debris basket in the sump can be very easily dislodged when putting things back together, also, eventhough the basket can be put in correctly ( there is an ofset spigot in the bottom)
the holes in the basket dont line up with the outlet hose at the bottom.

So some times when the pump started up the basket would partialy block the outlet, and the pump sequence would time out with water still in the drum.

I drilled a couple of holes in the inner basket where the outlet is, put it all back together and its worked perfectly for the last 3 weeks and 20 washes or so.

I hope this helps others who have had a similar problems

    Keith

I cant remember who I bought the pump from as I have all the paperwork at home, It looked like a large established company on the internet, The pump looked identical to the old one, and the quality of build looked the same….

You have got me wondering now as to wether its the pump not starting up when it should do, so when it wants to start the rinse and spin there is still water in the drum??

    Maybe more investigation is needed

    Thanks,

    My thought process as well,

I have checked the sump and the outlet pipes ect and all are clear, I have also changed the pump, as the bearing had gone and was very noisy in operation. I also have an exchange control module in the machine at the moment, but still the stopping mid cycle persists.

The only other thing I have noticed is a buzzing sound from the machine at about the time the pump should kick in, just before the rinse cycle starts this lasts for a couple of minutes. Then the pump starts up and all is usually ok. Thinking back if the pump fails to kick in after the buzzing sound, then it stops the cycle.

This is starting to get complicated….

    Any more ideas please
