Re: Hoover Nextra6 HNWL 7146 (no action, just buzzing!)

Ok, ok I admit it was silly not to check the water…!!!

You are clearly THE wise one Penguin45 – wasting no extra words on a problem you can solve with pithy aplomb. Thanks for your response.

My lame excuse *lowers eyes in deference and embarrassment*:

The defunct dishwasher that used to sit next to this washer/dryer was carted away to a new home a few days ago. The cold fill for it was obviously turned off. And the same pipe supplies the washer/dryer via a Y-connector. Hence no water inlet (as you say).

The fact that I’d been away a week (and had a lot else on besides) contributed to my failure to connect the two events.

I’ve just had the joy of seeing the machine working once again – yay! And had the added fun of discovering how well a Y-connector can imitate a garden sprinkler in the comfort of my own little kitchen! …the cock is some distance away from the connector (and I’m tired).

Anyway, again my thanks – many, many thanks,

    Re: DWF 417

Dunno if this is too late to get a comment on this thread. I searched on Whirlpool DWF and found (as others have mentioned) more than one thread citing the problem I have. My machine is DWF 417 as mentioned above and the same problem presents – constant stop-start with beeps.

I’ve read the link posted by Penguin45 (thanks). So I wasn’t optimistic that I could isolate which of the components are at fault (mains suppressor, computer, door lock, soap dispenser solenoid). But the comment about the door lock noise took me back to the machine for another faff.

I’m posting in case the following information isolates the culprit (I don’t hear any solenoid click when the fault begins). What I noticed was that if I try ‘eco’ I get immediately into the fault. If I try ‘rinse/soak’ I get about 20 seconds before the faulty behaviour shows. If I try ‘end’ (to complete the last programme), I get about 40 seconds of activity (emptying?) and then it goes quiet without beeps.

Now, I got this machine in an otherwise nice kitchen when I bought the flat recently. I’ve never managed to work the dishwasher – so I don’t know whether that ‘end’ behaviour is normal. But I thought maybe, just maybe, the information about the consistent time patterns to reach the fault might point to one particular cause out of the possible ones?

I don’t hold out much hope. *Chinscratch* perhaps an extra cupboard there would be a better option.
