ParticipantRe: Noisy motor on Bosch
I’ve set it away on another cottons stains 40c cycle @ 1600rpm with an extra rinse. I’ve deliberately done this to labour the machine. If the problem occurs again, I will take a video – hopefully this will show you better than I am explaining!

At the moment it is working fine, no arcing noise. The machine only did two washes yesterday and there were a few hours between each wash.
What do you think has happened, or is it just a one-off?

Silly question time, but how do I know if my model has a push in type seal? If photos will help, what and where do you need photos of?

ParticipantRe: Clothes never gets rinsed properly
I suggest putting a cupful of soda crystals and oxy powder and running through with the hottest cottons wash, being sure to enable a extra rinse cycle where possible.
Soda crystals are very good at dissolving grease and fat. Not only will they dissolve any that might be clogging up your machine, but also your pipes too. The oxy crystals are just a powder version of bleach, helping to sanitise the machine – these are optional, I always some amongst my stock of detergents.
While you’re about it, consider using soda crystals down your sink too. Out of interest, does your sink drain slowly, or has it become slower?
I’m completely against using liquid forms of detergent, unless I need to. I’ve read how it can clog up machines by sticking to the insides and can cause mould and odour issues within the machine, too.
Stick to powder or tablets that contain compacted powder. If you use powder on your whites, you should find they will seem whiter as standard powder contains bleaching agents – unless it’s powder specifically for colours, then it probably replaces the bleach with optical brighteners.

Ouch, nearly £80 before postage for a new door – all I wanted was the plastic assembly.
Well the washer seems fine just now, I only noticed it by chance.

ParticipantRe: Detergents
I will say this. Almat biological powder doesn’t get whites as white as Ariel and I also find that the clothes come out a bit crisper. But for what Almat costs I can live with that and a scoop of oxy helps in a wash where you need your whites truly white.
I haven’t tried Almat liquids, but I can’t see why there would be any problem except on whites, somethng that liquid detergents always under-perform on due to lack of bleaching agents.
Which makes me ask, why can’t they put bleaching agents in liquid detergents?

ParticipantRe: How to change brushes on Bosch Logixx 8 ?
If I were to clean the motor with compressed air, would that help?
The machine appears to be working normally now, if anything reaching spin speeds a little faster than before the new brushes were put in.
I doubt the engineer will take my motor apart to clean it, especially as there doesn’t appear to be any reason to now. Is it something you could DIY?
What’s this ‘bedding stick’ treatment that you mention?

Forgot to update. When spinning on the first rinse, water appeared more and more as the speed increased. Then the noise started to go and the water stopped coming in.
Weird one, but all seems to be well now.

That’s exactly what the engineer told me and I felt as though he thought I was trying it on. But it did a wash and 1600 spin earlier this afternoon and it certainly didn’t do that until he put the brushes in.

Okay I decided not to risk doing it myself, so paid somebody to put them in for me. It’s a little sparky on spin for now but the engineer told me that would go as the brushes wear in.
What is more concerning is on test mode, as the machine spools up to 1600rpm, at about 1000-1200rpm the machine makes a little juddering noise. I then noticed that the machine was letting water in. After questioning the engineer, I was told that it’s leakage from the sparking of the motor triggering the machine’s solenoids. As per their advice, I am running a full wash to help bed the brushes in and the problem should be gone.
I need opinions here, I am worried to death that the installation of these brushes have buggered up my machine. 🙁

Many thanks, kwatt, for taking the time to reply – much appreciated!
I was advised that there was little difference in quality between those two brushes. I believe the main thing to look out for is if the brushes are laminated or not – the £9.80 brushes don’t specifically say they are laminated, just “nearly all our brushes are laminated”. To me that means there is a small chance they may not be, but that’s a small disclaimer just in case.
I will leave the machine unplugged for a good day to minimise any electrical shocks. Perhaps there is no need to do so, but I am very weary of electrics. To stop my hands getting dirty, I plan to use a thin pair of rubber gloves – hopefully these may further reduce the chance of electric shock…hopefully!
