If the problem was related to the components/parts you state, would this not have an affect on the wash cycles also, as these must be utilised during these programme functions as well? Also if the rinse/spin cycle is selected as a seperate programme, the cycle completes without interruption everytime.

Thanks suedehead for the reply.

This Hoover model does not have any creaseguard or caress facility and what buttons there are (Megawash, Miniwash, Extra Rinse, etc) are not selected. When any of them are, the same symptoms are still there, the machine stops before the rinse cycle after emptying the wash water.
