Phidom, Just to advise of the final solution, the motor speed controller was faulty, and the replacement from Whitegoods worked fine, so will be taking the repaired machine to my small abode in France at next opportunity……

Phidom, I have tested the motor as you described and works perfectly well in the vice, so thanks for that little tipI have noticed one of the tracks on the PCB motor timer is lifted where the small edge connector is pushed on. I have metered it from the edge connector to one of the tracks and it is dis. Next task is to bypass the edge connector and connect everything back up, and see how we go from there….will keep you posted on progress

thanks for the tip, I am a competent engineer so will give it a test in the vice. I have also checked all the field coils and through the brushed with ohmmeter, and get results as you have suggested. Also, the TOC test OK, and is looking likely fault with tryac in PCB module – thanks quick reply

Thanks Penguin, pretty much as I guessed. I was worried about the clips, but knowing the clips makes no difference is a bonus. I’m pretty clued up on car and motorbike bearings replacement, it’s the knitty gritty of the detail and the detail I was lacking
