Re: Not another Samsung SR2029CSS problem? ‘fraid so…

I’ve had the replacement evaporator cover/ fan assembly (the modified one) and it didn’t solve the problem, fridge still freezing up in a week or so. Reading other posts it seems to me the next stage should be to replace the sensor and the thermal fuse but they look to be the same part on various spares websites! I’m confused, can anybody help & maybe supply the part(s)? Mine’s a SRS2026CVW.

    Re: Samsung – Fridge Freezer

Thanks for your speedy response Kwatt. I’ve had the fridge side of the F/F apart many times and this doesn’t look like anything I’ve got there, where should it go?
    Thanks
    Simon

    Re: Samsung – Fridge Freezer

I’ve had all the standard problems with my Samsung SRS2026CVW and I’m ready to try changing the thermal fuse, trouble is I can’t find anybody selling them for this model. Any ideas? Thanks, Simon.

    Hi Penguin,

I have been suffering for years with the problem you describe and it has cost me bundles in spoilt food and call out charges. I have spoken to Samsung on several occasions and they do not acknowledge this as a known fault and just provide an engineer to contact. Today, having seen a BB comment about the fault, the samsung Repair Agent swapped over the whole evaporator panel and fan for a later (modified) design. I am now expecting them to bill me over £100 unless Samsung foots the bill which I think is the very least they can do. Can you give me any advice? Thanks
    Simon

    Re: Samsung – Fridge Freezer

Have you read the Samsung SRS-20 thread? Is your problem as described? On mine the evaporator fan blade was striking the build up of ice behind the front panel and making a racket until it stopped because the fan was frozen into the ice.

    Re: Samsung SR-S2026CVW

We’ve had exactly the same problems described here almost since the F/F was new. Have defrosted regularly but obviously root cause has remained. Today replaced the whole evaporator cover panel and fan with one from a later model. Everything fitted except the wiring from the fan which was swapped over with the old wiring after a minor adaptation was made.

Aparently the insulation was a problem on the old model, one of the vents in the insulation which was always blocking on the old one is considerably bigger on the new one. I think Samsung should own up to this design fault, we have thrown away many, many pounds worth of spoiled food over the years and only last week I paid £50 to call out an engineer who unblocked & defrosted fridge side but could not find a fault. Does anybody from Samsung have a response?

    Re: Unreliable Samsung SR S2026CVW

It shouldn’t be, Bill. When you set the temp it shows the setting briefly but reverts to showing the actual – thats what it should do anyway. Plus there should be an alarm to tell us things are not right but nothing happens, we just go to get something frozen out and find its soggy!

    Re: Unreliable Samsung SR S2026CVW

I hear you Bryan. I suppose its not impossible that the fridge (not the freezer) could have been slightly ajar without us noticing for a while. What I don’t understand is why the temp gauge stays on -26C when the freezer is actually +7C (which it only says once I have interrupted the power supply) & obviously the alarm doesn’t warn us. Surely something is bust? I would happily get an engineer out but nobody will come to us on this godforesaken rock!

    Re: Unreliable Samsung SR S2026CVW

Thanks Bryan, I am sure it will work if I leave it for 24 hours, but the door hasn’t been left open and the drain hole is not blocked as far as I can see. We have had other fridge-freezers including American style ones and not had this problem. I still think the temperature gauge probe might be at fault and since it is easy to replace I am wondering if you can supply one? I would get an engineer out but it is not an option here.

    Re: Unreliable Samsung SR S2026CVW

PPS I just took off the plastic cover at the bottom of the F/F, near the wheels and found a lot of fluff which was virtually blocking what I took to be some kind of air intake. Could that be the cause of my problems? But I guess that wouldn’t explain why the temp gauge says it is -26C when in fact it is +7C? Still baffled.

PS I just found your Repairs@ service and put in my postcaode and it came up with this reply:
