ParticipantRe: Smeg 612 ss leaking underneath
there appears to be more than 1 leak. The door seal had come unscrewed so fixing that has stopped the main leak. When you run a wash now it’s as dry as a bone.
BUT when I move the dishwasher by lifting it slightly at the front to put it back in place I get a thin trickle of a dirty water leak from somewhere underneath. Is this usual? Do they leak if they are tilted?
thanks

ParticipantRe: Smeg 612 ss leaking underneath
An update: I took off the tray underneath and it was bone dry. Does this mean it is leaking from around the door?
The goalpost seals I can see – any pointers on accessing the bottom door seal?

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFF2000. Fix or bin?
New brushes in, working again. Thanks for help and advice.
How long can these machines keep going for? – when I opened her up she seemed a well built thing.

Thanks – would the brushes also make the metallic rattle when it spins?

ParticipantRe: Smeg dwf 612SS E8 error
thanks – for reasons that are unclear, it has started working again. maybe it was threat of being tipped up that made it play nice.
It’s now saying it needs more rinse aid, despite being filled up yesterday. I think I’ll ignore it.

ParticipantRe: Smeg dwf 612SS E8 error
Thanks. Water seems to be coming out of all the arms correctly for the wash cycle, and the soap is released as it should be. It’s just when it gets to rinse that it beeps, pumps out and shows the error.
do you need to take quite a lot of it apart to get to it. My manual doesn’t cover this 😉

ParticipantRe: noisy fans smeg suk91mfx
A bump for this: I’ve got the fans out – what should I look for to see if the bearings are loose? I can’t feel any free play, but I might be wiggling the wrong bit (as the bishop said to actress)

ParticipantThought I’d revisit this thread as yet another circuit board has packed up. It’s been 11 now in the same machine – some fail instantly, some hold up for a few months. Smeg seem happy to keep replacing them, but have offerred an option of having an engineer come (which I would pay for) to make a report. They would then think about replacing the whole machine.
Has anyone heard of this before? – I’m tempted, but I’m also worried that if I go down this route the engineer won’t be able to find waht causes the fault (they haven’t so far in all their past visits). Does an engineers report involve anything they won’t have already tried?
Thanks

ParticipantPenguin – if only it was so easy. Engineer has just been. He checked PCB and agreed that it was faulty and that he would put a new one in. I told him about the SD problem, and yes, I showed him this thread. He tested SD with meter, and pronounced that it was fine. I pointed him at Clive’s post, which said that this was what would happen, but he wasn’t having it!
That’s 4 or 5 PCB’s now – I’ve lost count. At £150 a pop you’d think they’d be more intertested in trying something new. Out of interest, how much is a new SD?

ParticipantThanks K and Clive – that sounds like a very likely scenario. I’ll tell the engineer tomorrow. Is the SD replacement quite straightforward?

ParticipantRe: Weird circuit board fault
Dave – I suggested to the engineers that the dispenser should be changed, but their response was no, it wouldn’t be the cause of the fault. If poss can you give me a brief outline of how the dispenser could be responsible? It might help persuade them.
Cheers

….and the new circuit board lasted precisely 7 days before malfunctioning. Has anyone got any ideas why this happens? Are the circuit boards connected to any other components? Could it be water penetration? A faulty voltage regulator (do d/w even have these)?
I’d like to try and persuade the engineer to do something more than just slot a new circuit board in – there’s obviously something wrong somewhere else.

ParticipantRe: Weird circuit board fault
Engineer sent by Smeg, and replaced circuit board. Bearing in mind this is the 3rd one in the machine now, the first engineers assesment that it ‘happened all the time’ wasn’t much help. The second guy who came to fit the part said that we were just unlucky, and that nothing else on the machine would blow the circuit board, so it was just down to that part failing.
Fair play to Smeg, who replaced it FOC when we were out of warranty. But I’m not confident this repair will last for longer than the others. Everything seems to point to fault somewhere which is repeatedly causing this problem.
Fingers crossed, and we’ll wait and see
Thanks for all the advice guys

ParticipantRe: Weird circuit board fault
Thanks for the advice. The part was fitted by one of their appointed engineers under the warranty, so i’ll get back to them about replacing it. I did get the feeling they were just trying to fob me off.
When I spoke to them they implied that I should expect a 19month old Smeg dishwasher to be broken. How silly of me to expect it to be a reliable piece of kit 😯

Smeg have been less than helpful. Although the new circuit board has failed after only 8 months they say tough – parts are guaranteed for 6 months only. I’m considering fitting a new pcb myself. Is it:
a) worth it as two have already failed. maybe there’s a deeper fault.
b)an easy job. I’m relatively competent!!Any idea how much a pcb would be, and where I can get my hands on one?
many thanks
